Anyone having problems with Wifi on the regular Chromecast 2? I'm on single band N and it casts OK most of the time, but sometimes it just grinds to a halt with buffering every few seconds. I mean I can cast for hours and then suddenly it just stops working. I generally have to wait until the next day to start casting normally again.

I tried both Netflix and local streaming (Videostream) as well as casting from different devices - which leads me to believe it's a Wifi problem, but I don't see any interference issues. I also have the old Chromecast with me and it never had any issues with buffering, except high bitrate streams.

lchiu7: Well I just pulled the trigger on one. $35(US) from Google and no tax or shipping cost to Youshop. I did a quick estimate and it  looks like the Youshop will be $17.5 so in total about US$35 (NZ$53)+$17.5 so about $68.5.  The goal is to play music on my table to my HiFi system and I have run out of HDMI ports on the AVR so the regular Chromecast (which is the same price) won't work it's analogue in for the audio.

How much did it end up costing to get it here in NZD? Thanks.

Probably about $80 all up not a huge saving. Better to use another freight forwarder who just use USPS when it's appropriate rather than Youshop .  While you might have to pay sales tax since one of them is in California, you will save on the shipping.

Just got one today thanks to our friendly mod Scott while he was in Canada.

Setup was a breeze and it plays a nifty feel good video saying good on you for getting a chromecast.

Works as expected and finds my 5ghz SSIDs and better build with the dongle than the v1.

Going to have a go shortly to see how it goes.

Just paid the Youshop charges on mine - NZ$71 all up, which is eminently reasonable.

Got the Chromecast 2 on Friday and finally tried it out last night. Main goal for this was to stream. Overall I found it worked best when streaming from a chrome browser on a PC to TV. Image and Audio were in sync and load times were fast.

I couldn't get smooth browser/app streaming from android and iOS devices. Slow start ups and too many pauses.

All the standard Chromecast apps such as Youtube, Spotify, Google Play movies etc worked very well as they used the TV's native apps (I don't need to use Chromecast for this)

I have a VDSL connection using a standard 2.4Ghz router supplied by Spark. So anyone with a faster router or connection should get a better experience.

My chromecast stopped working yesterday night so was a bit of a poo poo.

I did all the usual re-starts - a) restarted the chromecast, b) restarted the modem, did these about 3 times in a stretch and gave a gap and tried again so about 4 times in all.

No response, so basically what happens is , when you insert and click the chromecast option in tv, it goes in, all fine, and the chromecast circle logo comes on, and after that its all downhill. I get garbage flickering screeens

I bought this from Noel leeming st lukes - Feb 15 this year. I dont have a receipt ( yes, i did ask the sales guy who replied " its inside the box " ) but it clearly wasnt when i got home.

But i have managed to get a bank statement with purchase amount.

Do you think NL will replace it for us?

I don't see how they couldn't - it's not even a year old.

If you have proof of purchase, they 'can' do it though it's a bit of work to find receipts that far back, so I suggest you befriend the staff member haha.

My 2 audio ones from B&H turned up today.

Set one of them up and again the option for full range audio was turned off when I set it up so it sounded like crap. Im not sure why they would have it default to sounding terrible but it does.

Will get around to playing with the grouping later on and see how it goes.

Ok, have tried them out for grouping and results are poor, but it is with 2.4GHz wifi so the erraticness is probably down to that at the moment.

Constant loud blips and glitches like a corrupt MP3 download. Inexcusable to be putting crap like that out. If loud that can damage tweeters.

One speaker will go quiet for a few seconds occasionally, will come back with a slightly different sync to the other, so even tho there is a slider to change the delay its useless as the delay in the chromecast changes with each playback. Its not as far out as the LG speakers but it took 50ms of adjustment to get it sounding right on one occasion, 30ms on another.

And as you can only add delay to a speaker, if it needs to go the other way you have to exit that speakers config, find the other one and add delay to it instead. Theres no way to get all the delays on a single page like they do for volume.

Knocking it back to 2 speakers and its much much better, but still will have the delay change mid track so if you are between the 2 speakers then it will sound like its moving between them at random.
