In view of Neil Gaiman's forthcoming American Gods launching on Amazon Prime TV I checked my options and found that our model of Sony Bravia was on Amazon's list of supported devices. So I made the jump and signed up to their introductory subscription at $2.99pm.

Oops. It didn't work. Digging deeper I discovered that some TV models, of course including ours, support Amazon in the US but not elsewhere.

Caveat emptor, owtte.

What model do you have?  I sideloaded Amazon onto my x8500d, and it works fine.  I'm using getflix smart dns too.

You should be able to change regions too if the same model is sold around the world?

It's a 48W600B. Apparently out here in Australasia they can't download the app to the device, but they can in the USA. I don't know if the issue is legal, commercial or technical.

Getflix have a specific setting for Sony to set the region to US.  They have a 14 day free trial so it might be worth giving that a go?
