I enjoyed it as well. Fast pace start.

The Dolby Vision was good on new TV.

Just wonder why a TV program was filmed in 2.35:1 unless they are looking at future repeats as the producers of Babylon 5 did back in the mid 1990s and shot it in 16:9 for future distribution. I can now watch it on Amazon Video in 16:9.

I agree EP1 was very exciting indeed. I don't think they could keep this pace all season, the cost of producing that episode must have been insane.

I find a lot of the characters aren't really likeable.

Who else come to the instant conclusion and shouted out what the rock was she attempted to grab before transport...

Turns out if you read a bit of fillers it may be right. And further explained in the Mini Trek eps which I have not seen yet.

Ah now - that would be telling. But a clue was given at the episode end when the lovely gushy ensign Tilly states it is dark matter, undiscovered subatomic particles, endless energy.

But even more intriguing is the 'red angle' Michael Burnham saw.

And yes the mysterious Spock.

So we have 3 story lines, so far, for this series.

iMac 27" (late 2013), Airport Time Capsule + Airport Express, iPhone7, iPad6, iPad Mini2

Panasonic Blu-ray PVR DMR-BWT835 + Panasonic Viera TH-L50E6Z, Chromecast Ultra, Yamaha AVR RX-V1085

Well, yes that too.

In a leaf of the DC/Marvel book. Apparently we need to watch the 'Short Trek' episode 'Runaway' to keep up with these branched timelines

[spoiler]

Anyone else notice the reference to The Cage in the episode of Discovery?  There was a fortune cookie in the ready room which said “Not every cage is a prison, not every loss eternal.” in reference to the pilot of TOS The Cage (later used in the two parter The Menagerie), in which Captain Pike was confined to a wheelchair and could only communicate with yes/no beeps.

I hated but kinda loved Star Trek all my life because my older brother would make us watch it instead of what us younger guys wanted to watch.

But I think its always been a part of me ever since the very first episode in the 60s and then its re runs for 2 decades haha. He also made us watch Dr Who which I love/hate as well for the same reasons.

But honestly, Star Trek Discovery imo is the best Star Trek since the original. I love it. I just wish they would release the whole season in one go. I presume Netflix doesnt fully own it like Punisher or Shooter etc.

Makes sense, you can always tell its not netflix when the whole season doesnt land which I prefer. But at least these good non netflix shows leave us something in between each week.

Id love to finish off S5 of Outlander but will be ages before netflix gets to ep8.

I think I might save STD for 3 weeks to give me a buffer as I enjoy it so much. I know Tilly seems really silly but she adds a real human factor to the show, fragility and all that.

Hilarious awkwardness

Loved it when she said there was assigned seating in the lab and then Paul says something along the lines of "sit anywhere, it's not like we have assigned seating" almost immediately afterwards
