Downloaded latest version 2.9.3 to my iPhone 4s.

At home it will play the Live Streams correctly. But for all on demand video it displays an error "Could not load this video resource".

At work (on the same iPhone) everything functions correctly.

The TVNZ help page refers to this exact error and says it is a know issue and is being worked on as a priority. They suggest turning the device to airplane mode for 10 sec to flush the DNS cache, but that made no difference.

What could be the difference between my home network and one at work that allows live streams to work at home but not on demand video; but with everything functioning on the work wifi network?

You don't run a dns redirection service like dns4me/unblockus etc?

I do (DNS4ME) but the settings are not activated for TVNZ. I will try it without, but why would it affect TVNZ On Demand videos only and yet Live Streaming from the same app works fine? Plus Three Now app and Lightbox app work fine on the same iPhone that has DNS4ME??

yeah try without.  I use them as well.  But haven't tried the new TVNZ app/chromecast support.  It's possible you've turned something on that interferes with TVNZ.

Well tried my other wireless network at home (that has no DNS4ME profile) and it works just fine. Checked my DNS4ME setup and can see nothing obvious that conflicts with TVNZ - even though it should not be relevant given I am in NZ and do not have TVNZ ticked as a service in DNS4ME.

Have created a support ticket with DNS4ME to see what they say.

I wonder though if TVNZ have built some check into the app that maybe looks for a NZ based DNS for instance. I think I read somewhere that Netflix have baked some sort of check into their apps.

Maybe try turning on dns4me for Tvnz.

I just saw that I have it turned in, and just tried playback in IOS on the new version.

Somewhat ironic that tvnz got chromecast support the day after media works app. The good thing is that it appears you can currently cast live tv, which I don't think you can do with the media works one.

Yes that did the trick.

But I don't understand why that needs to be done when I am in NZ watching TVNZ On Demand (especially given streaming Live TV was okay, only On Demand video was caught).

The only problem with having TVNZ 'ticked' in my DNS4ME settings is that it conflicts with 7Plus from Australia (I have 7+ ticked as it is the only OZ TV service that has a proper Android TV app which is nice on my MiBox).

Depending on what DNS4ME says to my support ticket I may ask them to shuffle 7+ and TVNZ around so they don't conflict ( they have already done this for me when I pointed out 7+ was conflicting with SBS and ABC).

Finally the other options are for me to raise a ticket with TVNZ and/or try (on a free trial) another DNS provider to see if the same thing happens.

Yeah I'm. It sure either. I guess it depends how their defaults work. Like where are they if nothing is specified? As you don't put into dns4me your isps DNS servers. Which could be a cool feature
