O.M.G. I might have to start to watch TV again.
Involuntary autocorrect in operation on mobile device. Apologies in advance.
Isn't this what we are all wanting, a non geolocked service? This may well spur others to go global.

You think you'll see this in NZ any time soon?? About two months ago they started geo blocking the live CBS News feed.

I get the feeling if this continues that people are gonna start missing the "bad old days" when a TV network was able to get content from all the major studios.
Mind you I saw this the other day too ( its paywalled, but you can pretty much guess where its going from the title, - still not sure if it is for real or just more shade on millennials)

I was thinking the same thing earlier. Sky was expensive but you only had to deal with a single company. Now virtually every service has its own exclusive content and it wouldn't surprise me if it's more than a Sky subscription once you add them all up...
As for that WSJ article, there are a couple of quotes in this free source. But I assure you that we're not all that bad; I know what an aerial is, I've used a corded phone (even a rotary dial one!) and I remember life before the Internet was popular.

Agreed
Its coming full circle. Everything that everyone wanted, competition is here. Soon to be global TV. No geolocking.
But, as you say, too many subs, too messy, more expensive probably. Instead of complaining that I pay Sky and get all his other crap, I now pay for 7 services and get all this other crap! Oh and sport, ABTV, F1TV, MOTOGP TV, BlackCapsTV and so on. And paying per view I don't feel will cut it, you cant expect to watch BlackCaps vs Australia semi final for 65c either
A study in the USA last week found out millennials were surprised external antennas gave them FREE TV. As in they couldn't believe it was FREE! Linking to alternative source as WSJ has a paywall in front of the article.

As this spreads aggregation services will arise to offer different packages. The streamers will go along because only a limited number of people will want to subscribe to multiple services, limiting their audiences. They will need the aggregators to survive.
I don't think there is ever a bad time to talk about how absurd war is, how old men make decisions and young people die. - George Clooney
