You'd think with the F1 less than 8 days away, they would have something available so people can ensure their devices (mobile, Chromecast's, ATVs, etc) are compatible before the action starts next Thursday, and that Spark and their streaming partners infrastructure is working correctly.

This is Sparks fallback plan, the ace card and I sadly think they will be using it.

I thought for some reason that SS wasn't going to be ready for the MEL GP. Maybe that was just for the roll out of other devices though.

Yes, the silence is deafening. It doesn't bode well. I Guess they are wary of making an announcement they can't deliver on. No FTA backup plan for the third round of WRC this weekend either. When will these guys realise that no information is not the same as overpromising? They could be a lot more transparent.

Foxtel 4K is available to satellite subscribers with an iQ4 set-top box.

They’re be paying more then $20 a month for their 4K racing?

Talkiet: The silence is deafening because those people on the trial are bound by a strict NDA. I can't talk about it. Unfortunately this means those that have no real information to go on are assuming the worst.

 

Assuming the worst?  That's exactly what people with "no real information" should do.  It's one week out so naturally us F1 addicts have made other arrangements. I don't understand what Spark hoped to gain by keeping us in the dark so close to the event.

I was not referring to those on the trial, I meant the organisation itself. I want to make arrangements to ensure I can view my favourite events, but the information vacuum makes me very uneasy that Spark Sport will be able to deliver. Given we will have already missed 3 rounds of the WRC by the end of this weekend - lucky these rights aren't exclusive. (Edit sp.)

I think if he was going to tell you that, it wouldn't have been a vague reference in the first place. I presume even if he knows, he can't tell you.

 

I understand both sides of this equation, but I do feel communication from Spark should have been better. No point Spark complaining they are getting a hard time. Sport is a huge thing in NZ and they put it on themselves to deliver it.

Different case entirely, this is not a valid comparison to make! Apple are generally releasing a physical device (and associated Software), that is new or updated over what was available previously.

 

Here we are talking about Content (that was previously available via a different mechanism). The content is not new, just the delivery mechanism. I want to know that my favourite content will be available, I don't really care about how it is delivered -  provided it works!

 

What I am not getting from Spark Sport lack of engagement and transparency is any comfort that the content will be available to me when I want to view it, or that my available devices will be able to facilitate access.This does not mean I will not be pleasantly surprised, however, due to the lack of transparency, so close to the event, I am now looking into my own contingency arrangements.

 

If Spark wanted to be a bit more transparent they could give further information on the status of trails and devices and volume testing that has been validated and the test case still to be done. I want to know that they have validated the devices I have access to, and done some volume testing that would give me comfort that it going to preform on the day, or that I should have an alternate viewing strategy in place. (like my annual sub to WRC+, because Spark did not provide this or an alternate way to view it).
