MileHighKiwi: I'm probably going to record the AB games on FTA and fast forward the ad breaks.

I'm rugby mad and like streaming services, having used NFL Game Pass for several years, EPL etc, but I just cant get excited by Spark streaming it. I think it's going to be a massive fail and I'm not prepared to pay good money for something I have little confidence in.

I appreciate the F1 fans are happy but let's see what happens when hundreds of thousands are trying to stream the ABs.

Add in the fact that many older and rural people are going to miss out, the whole things just annoys me.

I'm being negative but I know I'm not alone, many people I know feel the same way and they are big rugby fans.

Rant over, lol.

Hundreds and thousands stream right now though. Many eyes that watch Netflix might watch an AB's game, in that case it doesnt matter bandwidth wise

If streaming issues due to congestion were commonplace, then yes that would be a worry.

Many missed out with Sky as they could not afford it. I guess they went to a pub or a mates place? Same here I assume.

Except the pub and your mate had Sky, which just works. It's idiot proof. A bar trying to get a stream up with a hundred frustrated punters won't be a nice place to be.

I get that. It will be run by an app, it should be fine. They have run 10,000 hours, and 5 events had a teething glitch.

You mentioned F1 watchers are happy. I'm one. I'm past the "testing" side, I just use it and it works, all the time. I never actually think about it, i just grab it and it works. Thats my experience (iPad or iPhone Airplayed or CCu to TV) Its pretty equal to Sky for me, UX wise. ATV4 app is out June, it will then be better

I'll double check I'm on the latest version of the iOS app as sometimes my iPad is a bit reluctant to update. The random dropouts weren't happening for Canada which was pleasing. I've just had a look now and the resume functionality is clearly evident on my iPhone. It's not something to do with Live vs VOD perhaps?

Like you I am very happy to not have to think about recording my all important F1 on the SKY box. It's just there ready and waiting for when I want to watch.

Hey Agent!

Def make sure you've updated the iPad as the new version of Airplay does appear to be much more stable and robust.

Hey Monza - how's it going?!

All updated, and with a back to back this weekend and next I'll be giving it a good test.

Some Airplay drops and various oddities with where the stream started from.

If Airplay drops and "oddities" ? If others have to regular issues, its probably  at your end?

That gives me some comfort. When I used PLP I would usually start a game 15 minutes late and found the performance was better than watching live.

Have you found that, or do you always watch live?

Does anyone but me miss the x30s etc. feature of locally recorded content?  I find searching for the start of bits I want to watch really hard and sometimes I have even skipped past the race start as I didn't know where it would be in the stream.  At least with the visual ffw you could see the formation and play from there.

Not really. If In use 30X which I do a lot, I will go past it, then have to click click click to rewind. When I watch MotoGP which is always recorded I have no choice but to watch it FF for ages. Annoying. Thumbnails would be good, definitely. But as I do with golf (on SkyGo) on my iPad. if I want to go back a bit that's easy enough with the slider, as for me, its usually just a small amount of time. the skip helps too on SS.

Theoretically when it’s on devices with remotes, then you should get a 10s or something skip. Which is a mich better experience that you’ll get with a chromecast with a slipper, with are notoriously hard to control.

I haven’t played with YouTube via chromecast if the double tap 10 skip exists (which means stark sport could implement it)

But that only moves in 10s increments and requires constatntly pressing in the sport app and is also a black screen when doing so, the x30 ffw is a live image ffw so you see what is going on at x30, i.e. 1 minute for every 2s realtime... much easier to move through a stream to find the point you want than just guessing... i.e. does the race start hapepn at 1 hour in, 55 minutes in etc. at the moment I have to move in small increments and hope the slide bar gets where I want... the Android TV app will be better at this using the remote but the system still requires predone bookmarks to get to the correct segments or visual thumbnails.

Personal preference. I’ve never had my Sky, only streaming, plex, so don’t think miss 30x speed, which when a think about would make me prune to miss stuff.

Also I wouldn’t use 10s as a good jump for sport, maybe 30s to 1m. Also with streaming there’s no reason that you’re u can’t implement a 30s (or user configurable) and a scrubbing type method with thumbnails.
