I am certain that the pixellation that I see on the screenshots are not due to Spark feed but the device - either software (app writing) related or GPU (hardware decoding) related

That does not completely absolve Sparksport from being responsible, but it is someone beyond their control.

Involuntary autocorrect in operation on mobile device. Apologies in advance.

I’ve been watching via Firefox since April with no issues but the past 2 days have encountered a bit of the picture freezing for a second while the sound continues.

I am now using chrome without the issue showing up. The only downside to chrome is the audio sync is not always the best.

Has anyone else had issues with Firefox?

Exactly. I watch on Chrome and apart from the constant buffering in game 1, there is no issue. I also happen to have the latest and greatest laptop CPU and GPU.

But if given the choice - will choose to watch on MySky anyday!

From Spark:

Spark Sport is pleased to confirm that the All Blacks vs Namibia match streamed successfully with concurrent streams peaking at the second highest since the All Blacks vs Springboks match.

Spark Sport is happy with how things worked throughout the match with the vast majority of Spark Sport customers having a great viewing experience. The streaming service worked well across devices and the content delivery network (CDN) servers delivering the coverage to New Zealanders operated well within their capacity. Spark’s broadband network performed well, as did the networks of other broadband providers.

For the volume of people viewing the match our care teams helped a modest number of customers who for a range of reasons had challenges streaming.

I find these press releases very interesting.

"the vast majority of Spark Sport customers having a great viewing experience"

Is that considered a success from a consumers perspective? Almost feels a little like pot luck!
Its awesome to hear that their platform performed. I expect to but its the end to end customer experience which is the the issue that Spark seems to be missing here.

Reading the latest new articles (from just before) - Spark blames the users and that makes sense but users signed up to receive the service as per their offerings/supported - thats not what a few are recieving.

the problem is most consumers dont realize that their choice in equipment, broadband etc all play a part in the experience they receive from spark. they just expect it to work like Netflix does, and dont know the difference to live streaming vs on demand.

Totally agree! - Spark should have done a better job particularly around this area given that the concept might be new to so many!
One wonders then I read something like this -

https://twitter.com/kimbakerwilson/status/1180729365614645248

"Last week I asked Spark if I could interview someone about the difference between the three dots of doom / the stuttering / the pretty mosaic patterns to help people understand the issues it keeps saying aren't its fault. But it refused. Oh well."

Unfortunately I was celebrating a wedding anniversary tonite so couldn't watch it but ran up Stuff to check on result and the usual headline of anti Spark Sport again. Hillary Barry had streaming issues. Why didn't she watch it on her precious TVNZ feed.

I was watching on a Smartvu dongle on Vodafone fibre, which is a Spark supported option. I had a lot of stuttering in the first half and then about 10 minutes before the end of the first half the Spark sport app gave up and all I had was a black screen. Changed over to Samsung tablet and chromecast to watch the rest of the first half which was an improvement, but not perfect. The second half I changed back to the Smartvu with no significant problems. If I am using a Spark approved device I expect to be able to watch a broadcast as good as Sky, which was not the case today.

I streamed from a mid-range Samsung phone to a chromecast-enabled Shield, never missed a beat.

So much for Live Chat to resolve a problem, you get put in a queue. Obviously not to many people having problems then.

event2: It's on and old projector at the moment, 1024x768

That's the reason then. The web player will grab a top rendition appropriate to the browser viewport.

I watched the rugby tonight on a Smartvu device on Spark. I could not fault the quality of the coverage. No stuttering or buffering at all. Absolutely perfect for the whole game.

Can you clarify that?
