Went in and redeemed my voucher towards a 4K apple tv. Took the HN staff a while to work it out but they were very helpful.

Paid $59 for the RWC and got a $100 voucher .. Can't complain. The Apple TV streams other content I watch better too.

I bought my LG TV in late November 2018. Disappointed by this, to say the least. Spark's only saving grace is that I already own a Chromecast, so can still watch their service on my TV, just not the way I hoped I would. Were it not for that, I'd probably be cancelling my service with them.

The TV credit is only available to people who bought their LG TV after December 2018, however, I don't see why it matters when you bought your LG TV. It's a bit self-absorbed of Spark to suggest that people would buy TVs purely on the basis that they can use them to watch Spark Sport. To me, we're all in this as we all purchased our tournament pass AFTER they made the announcement they would be supporting LG TVs.

It's a nice gesture that Spark are offering some kind of credit to some, but to be honest it's a slap in the face for the rest of us affected, as we were just as screwed over.

Exactly what I have been saying above  - they didn’t keep their promise - but some people here just can’t see it.

As it happens, I later ended up getting a SS RWC Tournament Pass for free when I joined a Spark broadband arrangement - but that doesn’t change the principle of what has gone on here.

So what do you actually want them to do? They haven't been able to.make the app work properly on older hardware and seem to be happy to either refund or compensate people who bought a TV expecting it to work with spark sport.

Be interested to hear how people with 2019 LG TVs found their experience viewing via the App. Particularly the NZ vs SA game but also the other two "Super Saturday" matches.
By all accounts people's experiences on Sony, Panasonic and particularly Samsung TVs through the apps weren't altogether positive.
I didn't test our Panasonic for any of the games yesterday, preferring Chromecast Ultra or AppleTV4K to our 2018 LG OLED. Apart from the (well reported) streaming glitches the picture was awesome with the ATV upscaling to 2160p.
If pre 2019 LGs weren't going to perform as well as other OEM's TVs via the app, then maybe they were right to call it with time for people to make other arrangements.

Edit: Added Panasonic to list of problems after reading the Spark Sport thread again.

Bought a 2018 LG in the boxing day sale, so we qualify for the device voucher.  Went in to Noel Leeming yesterday (Lincoln Road, Henderson, Auckland) to try and redeem it.

The reps knew nothing about it.  Essentially got told they needed to verify it with somebody, couldn't do it on a Sunday, and would call me back once they confirmed things...

Watched it on a brand new LG C9 via the native SS app.  I have a nice quick and stable fibre connection and my TV is wired.

The performance was pretty woeful.  Picture quality, in general, was jittery throughout the broadcast.  At times, particularly in the second half it looked like I was watching rugby being played in minecraft.  The quality of the stream was that poor.

As soon as I discovered it was being played on Duke TV, I switched over and the difference was profound! Smooth and easy on the eye.  The funny thing is that I have a Vodafone top box running off the same fibre connection, so it has nothing to do with my connection and everything to do with SS!

So far the SS app performance, on my TV, has been... underwhelming.

How did the SS app perform during AB's game on Saturday?  Any issues?

How did the SS app perform during AB's game on Saturday?  Any issues?

Watched all 3 games on Saturday

Game 1 Aus vs Fiji

Started out Wifi TV to Fibre Modem

Game went well, HD 99% of the time, still not as smooth as sky though, lots of mucking around on the TV to try and get the smoothest settings

Game 2 France vs Argentia

Took several attempts to join the stream with Spark Errors (guessing network load)

Switched to Ethernet to Fibre Modem just in case

HD 99% of the time, same smoothness as game previous

Game 3 NZ vs SA

Joined straight after game 2 (no mucking around)

Game was HD until around 20-30 minutes then buffering between HD and SD started occurring

Waited for 5-10 mins before cancelling the streaming and praying that it was on Duke TV (just in case we couldn't reconnect to the stream)

Duke was playing Live, so moved away from Stream to Duke

Smoothness and HD was PERFECT on Duke no issues

Hope this helps
