My girlfriend and I are both uni students at different NZ universities. Neither of us have ID's with issue dates and so the spotify verification won't accept them.

Anyone had any luck getting signed up to Spotify student?

Have you asked Student Services* at your university? They should know about this sort of thing.
NZ ID's generally don't carry an issue date, usually only an expiry date.  Drivers Licenses and Passports are about the only exceptions i'm aware of in NZ... and I certainly don't recall issue dates on any of my tertiary ID's (but I am old now!)

My daughter's high school ID doesn't have an issue date, only an expiry date.

* or whatever it's called at your institution / these days.

Thanks but I know they won't help. They even print something along the lines of "this ID cannot be used for any other purpose". I don't recall ever seeing an issue date on any previous educational IDs I have been issued.

I wonder what Spotify was thinking launching a feature that must have hardly any uptake.

Have you tried Spotify's online help team? They provide online chat help.

I've used them a couple of times and they were really helpful, surprisingly so. It was frustrating to find in the first place, I recall, but perhaps start here:

Spotify outsources their ID verification to SheerID - they usually accept uni IDs as long as the issue year is on the card. My old one from Ara just has 2018 printed on it and they accepted that
