At some stage you’d think they would come out with a gladiator 1 and 2 bundle (and make gladiator 4k).

I can’t believe that Gladiator hasn’t been upgraded (Paramount again)

PANIC ROOM (2002) is showing that it has been upgraded to Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos on the Australian Cheap Charts website, but still says 1080p/Dolby Digital 5.1 in the NZ app and NZ iTunes on my PC.

If anyone has this in their library, could they please play it and see if it plays back in 4K. Its possible that they haven't tagged it yet. But I'm not holding my breath 🤨

Just a bit of information for people new to Apple Store Movies,

We used to buy our movies and music from the iTunes store. Now, Apple have shifted everything to their Apple TV app, which like it or not, its what we are now stuck with.

I still have iTunes installed on my PC, but it is a much easier and smoother way to purchase films on the app on my iPhone or Apple TV 4K media player. I prefer the iPhone; I just have to select a film that I want to buy (or rent), then a double-click on the side button is all I need to do to purchase (or rent) my movie.

I haven't installed the three apps on my PC yet... Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Devices which are compatible with Windows 10 & 11 only, but I intend to in the near future. You have to install all three apps, you can't install only one or two of them. I assume that they somehow all work together.

I hope this helps any new users, to more easily understand the sometimes confusing way that Apple work.

The Under $5 section on the app is worth a browse this week. Lots of good titles to select from.

TWISTERS (2024) has now dropped to a rental price of $0.99. Great value if you don't plan on buying it.

I bought the 4K version of Leon the Professional recently as it dropped to $4.99.

Currently enquiring with Apple why my HD version wasn't upgraded to 4K instead, so I now have 2 copies of the same movie in my library. A bit ridiculous.

Uggh - just after I posted the above, I went looking again in my movie library on my iPhone to find that both movies now show the little 4K icon, although there are still 2 distinct copies of the movie listed, one with a colour movie poster, and the other with a red/black version of same movie poster.

Under 'How to watch' the app unhelpfully tells me there are '2 versions', which then displays two identical entries for the same movie, no details to signify 4K or HD. Completely unhelpful, and none the wiser..

However in the TV app on my Mac, the older HD version still shows as 'HD', not 4K...

I really dislike this lack of consistency from Apple.

I have Leon: The Professional in my library in HD. How To Watch gives me an option to buy the 4K version, but I can't find the listing. It just says double-click on the side button to purchase. Let me know how you get on.

That shouldn't happen. You should at least keep your HD version. As far as I know Apple are still giving automatic 4K upgrades in NZ when available. I know that some US users don't get an upgrade if they didn't buy the film directly from Apple, but that doesn't apply to us. Occasionally, a 4K upgrade will be re-listed separately from the HD version, which means that you will have to buy it again to upgrade. I think you should give Apple Support a call to try and sort it out.

I’m finding now that I’m checking out CheapCharts every day now. 😆

I like how it keeps track of your library with a total of movies.

The wish list works real well when a movie drops in price, it give you a notification.

Now if they could incorporate a play history and play count in your owned library…..

re daunjan’s post. I’ve never had to repurchase a movie to get the 4K version.

Scrub the information above. William Tell has been brought forward, and is available to buy now! #3353164
