Started Orville Season 2. I hope it's as good as season 1.
I like Orville but I felt like it lost its way a bit, to be honest...

Oops I accidentally posted that in the wrong forum.
I think it's pretty hard to keep good storylines in a series of this nature, I expect the quality of episodes to vary considerably. Anyways, I'll take further discussions to the what tv episode thread :-)

To be fair, Orville is a love letter to Star Trek - It couldn't be more like a comedy version of the original series if it tried.

gzt: Any clues on when and where will this show will stream in NZ? TVNZ on demand is just unwatchable for my need to watch in short bursts now and then. Not to mention no rewind, not even 30 seconds..
I assume you mean stream on a platform other than TVNZ? Doubtful in the short term until Paramount+ launches here.
I'm surprised at your TVNZ OD issues. No problems with rewind when using the Kodi add-on

If you haven't caught it yet, or perhaps are still trying to get into the series, make sure you catch Episode 7. One of the best Star Trek based episodes in years, and fingers crossed we're seeing some returning characters.

gzt: It looks much better on my tv after the TVNZ app redesign. Don't know how.
Funny about this thread but I was just saying to my partner last night, when we watched it, that the resolution was dismal compared to Netflix programs or dear I say it, NEON. The adverts resolutions was even worse. Though my AVR automatically decoded it to Surround Sound. Also there is still pixelisation happening like always every so often.
Now this was through the latest TV box that means they would have had to use SDK & API so I'm guessing that it is at the server end where all these problems start, could be wrong though as I am certainly not an expert in the nitty gritty of all this streaming technology.
As I stated earlier this latest update is all show and no updated guts.

The difficult we can do immediately. The impossible takes a bit longer. But Miracles you will have to wait for.
Episode 4 was watchable, but only barely - it mostly has Christina Chong to blame. She can't carry an episode, she just doesn't have the acting chops.
But Episode 5 was was something else. I realise they wanted a moment of levity after the drama of Episode 4, but giving us a combo of "Sex and the City" and "Freaky Friday" was just insulting.
Tellingly, I was getting a drink when the ads finished and I didn't realise the episode resumed. Going just by the audio, the dialogue and the acting were so bad I assumed it was just another ad.

Each to his own. For me this is the best star trek since the original. It capturess the tone almost perfectly. Im really enjoying it, especially after the disaster that was Discovery.
