Is there a way to remove this app entirely?

I've tried it.  Didn't float my boat, I still prefer streaming.

Samsung tv plus is preinstalled into the firmware. If you REALLY need to kill it, it can be disabled from the tv's service menu mode

But safer just to not use it if its not your thing

Someone posted earlier (I think it was this thread) asking about data usage when streaming with VFTV vs Freeview App on CCWGTV.

Difference between the two - around 500GB weighted towards VFTV.

Below stats from a clients 4G FWB account - speed ~150Mbps as the house is basically underneath the celltower.

Prior to August monthly data usage was less than 200GB.

In August 2021 the account holder purchased a VFTV box. Spark's Metro plan had (at that time) a 350GB per month (fair usage) cap.

In December Spark imposed traffic shaping  (unbeknownst to me), which was in place until July when we got her a CCWGTV and installed the patched SmartVU Freeview app (thanks!) she loves it btw.

July onward data usage is under 200GB again.

When I first saw the almost 750GB usage I could scarcely believe it

I just want it gone from my home menu.  It seems to pop up every now and then and won't go away unless I click through to the channel, which I have no interest in doing (other than to make the Ad disappear).

Are you able to tell me how I get into service menu?

Thanks, I looked for those options but they weren't available.  I'll try next time it shows up on the home menu.

I don't produce an EPG for the playlists as I don't want any copyright issues. Most of the channels in the playlists have multiple sources as they tend to be common across the different services, pluto,localnow, plex, distro etc etc

I think there are tools out there with "public" epgs which can be populated depending on your .m3u player
