@MrBBEye - out of interest, what payment method do you use for YT India? As I mentioned earlier I (and others) have not been able to use credit cards for this, so interested how you overcame this.

This year I had to use a wise card, last year my NZ bank card worked.

My payment broke on my lead email address that ran my family when my card expired. I ended up having to use my actual email on an individual account and used a wise card. Considering the problems I was having paying when it worked I just paid for a year up front to not have to deal with the mess. Will try and go back to being on a family plan next year and if I have no joy repeat the yearly purchase.

Also considering moving to turkey for Netflix soon so I can upgrade to 4K.

Kiwibank Visa Debit with zero issues. I also have a Wise Visa Debit just in case but also use it for Amazon Prime Turkey($0.61/m) & Tidal Hifi Plus Argentina ($1.24/m).

Weird - after my BNZ and KB credit cards didn't work I tried my KB Visa debit card and that too failed; wonder why the different results... Anyhow, even at the Turkey price it's still a decent deal.

It's been 2 yrs or more since I first signed up so probably changes since then. Just get & use a Wise Visa Debit, so convenient(1 physical card including eftpos & paywave + unlimited virtual cards).

My UAE credit card works fine. YMMV of course.

Turkey does work with NZ credit cards (well, it did work a couple of weeks back with my BNZ Visa) so no need for a Wise card.

So, who else woke up this morning to an email from Youtube informing you that you had to add an Argentine issued card to their payment service to avoid their payments being declined?

Time to finally create a Wise account and cross fingers that it works.

I see a few Aussies on Whirlpool commenting about receiving an email also so it appears a legit move by Youtube.

I have also received the email :(

"Due to a recent change in Visa's processing policies in Argentina, payments may be declined if your card was not issued by an Argentine Bank. If you use an international Visa credit card or debit card, payments may fail and your subscription may be suspended."

Do you guys think this would apply in other countries too?

So maybe it's a Visa thing and a Mastercard would work? It's not accepting my Wise card either as its a Visa Debit. If it is just a Visa/Argentina thing then I might have to wait until it expires and try different country.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'm going to try a Bonfire (Mastercard) Card and see if that changes things.

Out of curiosity, what card do you have?
