My granddaughter who live in Hamilton has been blocked  and our account is now in Tauranga.

Did you set Tauranga as your home location on your TV or did Netflix decide for you?

Netflix decided where I lived  I suspect based on my IP address.

I just looked at my usage logs this morning and see that my daughter who  currently lives in México  is still using my account so maybe Netflix has relented.

Was your granddaughter blocked simply because you and your daughter were both on?

Bung: Was your granddaughter blocked simply because you and your daughter were both on?

No they don't normally use NF at the same time due to the time zone differences.

Thanks. Different countries. I was wondering if someone sharing in NZ had been blocked or traveling/holiday bach in NZ.

I don’t have NF, just interested in if it will work out for them, as if it does others will follow suit. I don’t share but could risk complications when viewing away from home.

Interesting they haven’t blocked though or backed down if they did previously with NZ/Mexico.

We're still running Netflix on one account on TVs in Marlborough and Welly.  Marlborough is set as the home location.  No issues or warning messages so far.

The Welly internet connection is part of building wide private network with hundreds of connections, so maybe that makes it difficult for Netflix to discriminate location?

Anyway.  Working.  No complaints so far.

So, the world didn't end after all?  We have noticed exactly zero difference on our account.  Access while travelling hasn't been an issue nor has accessing across multiple devices. Maybe we have somehow not been flagged up under their algorithm or something, or maybe the 'sky is falling' media and social media reaction was ridiculously overblown?

Ours is still working fine too.

I suspect Netflix is either running a trial (i.e. apply this change to only half the country, and measure the impact on retention).

Or they are targeting accounts (perhaps avoiding very low use Netflix subscribers - the people who you don't want to remind they have a subscription at all?)

Or they set a rule and many users will in fact comply, even though it was not planned to be enforced? It will probably hoover up many share-ees and get a few more subscribers

Never had a reminder/warning of changes. And just returned from oz where using it was no issue (on mobile) Although it did auto log me out on the 2nd week.

Update on Netflix on TVs in two different cities.

We've been watching Netflix briefly on a mobile device in the secondary location (Welly) every week and not had any issues watching on the TV in that location.

We forgot to watch Netflix by mobile in the apartment in Welly for two weeks in a row and Netflix now won't run on the Welly TV, due to location issues.  This week we will use the mobile in Welly again and see if the TV is re-enabled.

Dumb question: but has anyone actually managed to add another user/profile into their account? I have a mate who's now been cut off  (Netflix says they're not in the household, blah blah) but it's not super-obvious on how to add people??? Instructions are straight forward, but it's almost like you can't do this in NZ.... Any help would be greatly appreciated

If it’s bundled with something else I.e the Spark Netflix plan it cannot be done, otherwise there should be a way.

I’m planning on resubscribing to Netflix soon for couple of months so will see if can find a way when do. Someone might have posted by then.
