In the past few weeks TVNZ+ has become virtually unusable on our LG TV. I grabbed our Chromecast with TV from storage to try and it's just as bad. The only device it works on is Apple TV 4K.

As for our LG I have reinstalled the App, tried with wifi and wired ethernet. I have also tried with the ethernet direct from the router and not via the managed switch to no success.

I have tried different DNS and turning off IPV6 as a long shot, no success.

My wife believes her developers could do a better job so she is going to arrange a meeting with TVNZ.

We're getting the same problem with the new skybox. Add it to a list of issues. It would be nice to get the old skybox back although the streaming / app capabilities are a step up.

Anyway wrt TVNZ+ the app connects OK, runs for about 15minutes, and then complains about lack of internet access. Restart the app & repeat. We've only noticed it on sports though so far (US Open). I thought it might be a DNS issue, but it's still happening with 8.8.8.8 etc.

TVNZ+ app on Fire TV Stick ... on starting it says there's a new version and I should update. But it appears to be trying and failing to update it from TVNZ, not from the Amazon App Store. Re-installing the latest version from the AAS leads to it still complaining about needing an update.

Why is NZ not following standards here? I can continue with the app store version but have to put up with it nagging on startup about the unobtainable version.

Could she also arrange a meeting with Sky to sort out their rubbish Neon app on Android?!?!?

The app works fine on our LG C1 TV - except that recently I’ve noticed that [Edit: on ‘live TV’] all ads seem to have their last second or two missing. Almost as if the ad is a bit too long for the slot it’s playing in. Anyone else noticed this?

Doesn’t worry me in the slightest because I’m not interested in the ads - but it points to something being wrong with the app. I wouldn’t be happy if I was a paying TVNZ advertiser.

I haven't been getting any ads at all most of the time on the Apple TV App for the last week or two. I get about 3 seconds of black screen in the ad breaks, which is one bug I'm actually very happy with.

I have the same issue on my Fire TV 4K Max.

Reminds me of the ThreeNow issue whereby a new update wouldn't complete (a few weeks ago now).

Perhaps TVNZ+ should talk to ThreeNow for help (LOL).

Sorry - should have mentioned this is on ‘live TV’ - not on demand.

Not sure that’s a bug. Could be totally wrong but I wonder whether advertisers are willing to pay for ads during new and popular ‘On Demand’ shows that have high viewership - and that’s why you’ll get lots. But they’re not keen on advertising in old, less popular shows with low viewership - and maybe that’s why there’s no (or fewer or shorter) ads in those shows. This is a model that ITV On Demand use in the UK.

Same issue with TVNZ+ and Fire Stick - trying to update but stays stuck on "Opening" - will report.

For the last week, when I go to the app, it says it is only available to nice people in NZ or some such -- and tells me how to fix this, by putting in my local time in Settings. Which I do, and find it is already on Auckland NZ, and stays there, but I keep having to go through this rigmarole, which fixes it. TCL 50" Android about a year old.

Anybody javing issues currently with the tvnz app on any device? We are constantly getting shows freezing partway through on both our lg tv and on an apple tv. No issues with any other services or online activity so unlikely to be with our fibre connection..

Had a freezing issue once earlier tonight. Simply exited to the show list & then restarted the episode. Had to jump backwards as the epsode resumed +-7 min beyond the point that we had watched.

Yes the last few days it either keeps freezing or comes up with an error that something has gone wrong. It has been pretty unstable since they updated it for sport a few months ago.

Thanks, nice to know its not just us.
We are having to exit out to the main screen amd then re-enter the programme which then locks up briefly before restarting and then the issue occurs again within about 8 minutes.
