I cancelled my subscription with Quickflix - the content just wasn't there (it was for myself, so the kids content didn't appeal to me).

When you cancel, they made an offer to cut the price by 50%. After ending the call, I got an email saying that it was only for 1 month and then it'd go back to full price - which was quite different to what was explained in the call.

I then cancelled anyway - there was no way that I was using the service enough due to the limited selection.

Just resigned with the $5 TreatMe  5 week trial and 1 PPV, Also would it be possibe for Quickflix to have its own forum, like SKY and TiVo does?

Has anyone noticed the content changes dependent on device? On my iPhone and iPad I can watch Flight of the Conchords but I can't find it anywhere using my PC?

That's really weird I was under impression that Quickflix were using the same cdn as SKK unless they have different partitions for mobile. I presume the NZ CDN is refreshed from Australia so there may be some timing difference.

Actually there seems to be a few others as well like The Sopranos, Band of Brothers which I can't see on my PC.

HBO content is for Aus only so if you are getting it you have let the cat out of the bag as it were.

Yes I thought as much. The iOS apps aren't official yet so I guess once they do become official we will lose the content here in NZ.

On the content front where the hell is all the kids stuff? That is the MAIN reason we use Netflix. Once would have thought Quickflix would be onto this?

Yeah, I hear you.

I really don't know what the strategy is with QuickFlix.

I am edging closer to signing up by the day, pretty much an Xbox app will do it for me.

They are adding content and there are plenty of movies but I still don't get the way they are adding TV shows. After I watch season one of Doctor Who, how long am I supposed to wait to see season two?

My partner is bemoaning the fact that they don't have Tour of Duty or China Beach. She has a point. These shows are old. One would imagine 'old' equates to 'cheap', but there are people who want to watch these shows and can't short of buying the discs. I would see this as a good way forward for QuickFlix. They are not trying to go head to head with Sky, or at least the premium parts of Sky like sport of SoHo, and at $10 or so a month price point it isn't like consumers are facing a big opportunity cost signing up.

Maybe I'm missing something or the cost of old shows is higher than I think but $10 a month to watch old shows I saw ages ago or just missed entirely is very attractive.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

I agree I ended up getting the the 2nd season of Dr Who elsewhere since they've not really added more than a handful of TV content since launch.

For me now I am deciding which I want to keep out of Netflix or Quickflix as both are about the same price my VPN is free and although limited to a small amount of data for the free side of the VPN i use (TunnelBear) someone gladly pointed out that once the movie or tv show has started streaming then you can switch them off therefore I'm using a few meg at a time to get my video content started.

I would like Quickflix to succeed and would be very happy to use their service but at this stage my data is not zero rated (although Snap state they are still considering this) so for me now it may boil down to a content issue which although I have watched 3 or 4 movies off both and had practically no issues I may need to just choose content or supporting the local. I think I need to spend a bit of time looking through the Netflix catalogue as so far I've always known what I wanted to watch prior to going to get it off Quickflix first and if not on Quickflix I've watched through Netflix.

In saying this though for my up to date TV shows I think they'll still be getting viewed the same way they are now.

Will finish on this note

QUICKFLIX MORE CONTENT PLEASE ! ! !

Cant access the HBO content anymore via the iOS apps. I get a message Unable to play. The title you have selected is not part of your subscription package....."

Looks like the iOS apps are all official as they are listed on the NZ site now.

They've been surprisingly quick at all of this, I mean they launched like 2 months ago?
