I decided to create an account - if all it takes is to cancel before the trial is up then ok, will do it.

The app is showing in the SmartHub list and it works well. Shame all five movies I tried came up with "Not available in your region".

richms: Will give it a try when I get home, but as I am yet to even get the smart hub working in a reliable manner and samsungs support is useless I am not hopeful.

I got a Samsung 55" for review here. Plugged it in and I was told there was a firmware upgrade available. Tried all I could to download it, but the network was so bad that the router was showing disconnections every few seconds.

Downloaded the firmware on my laptop, copied to a USB memory key, plugged into the TV and updated from there. Network now works with no problems and it's been good since then.

Has anyone tried linking a Sony Bravia TV or a Sony Blu-ray player to their Quickflix account? I've never been able to do this successfully and the Quickflix help desk were not able to solve the problem.

I have two Sony Bravia's and both work fine on Quickflix. Also have a PS# and that works as well. You need to register via the sony entertainment site then do the quickflix bit

One would think it would be this simple, but a month of trying says otherwise. The Quickflix help desk couldn't even do it when I gave them my SEN login and password. In contrast, it only took a few minutes to register my iPhone, iPad, computer, and Panasonic internet TV to watch Quickflix.

Something that might help. I had problems early on and in the end I re-registered with a different email address and then followed through and it worked. It was still in the trial period so no problem re registering

Thanks, I'll try this. I'm using a Sony Blu-ray player, not a Sony TV, so maybe it's only a problem with the Blu-ray.

Are you using unblock-us.com or similar  VPN or DNS service to access overseas content?  that might explain whay the Quickflix geoblocking isn't saying you can;t access the movies.

Most of the time that I press smarthub on mine it will say starting for about 20-30 seconds, then downloading for a very long time with lan activity, then installing, then it goes away - about 10 mins all up. Push smart hub again and it repeats the downloading then installing exercise.

Since I only ever use plex on it I just configured it with an incorrect gateway so it never gets online to try to download anything.

No, we don't use any of these services around here. It was previously discussed that some Quickflix movies are listed but only available in Australia.

You'll also find that the movie selection on a Panasonic TV will be different to that offered on the quickflix.co.nz web site. The help desk claims that they just haven't got around to uploading new movies to all devices, but I'm not convinced. I smell movie studio lawyers...

I just got some more information about Quickflix on Samsung:

"[the] app will be available for 2010-11 SmartHub models in a week or two. Galaxy device support coming in a few weeks too. Combine the Galaxy and the SmartHub and I think you'll be able to throw things from the tablet/smartphone onto the TV (like AirPlay, which incidentally is also coming soon), so that's all to look forward to!"

I can see the app on my Samsung because it's a new model but older ones will have it soon. Nice about the tablet...

Ok that will be why its still not showing on my samsung.

I really hate the smarthub UI, it looks like some project for a programming 101 class. Hope that quickflix manage to build something good ontop like plex have done.

Since I didn't watch Dr Who Series One (2005) and it's available on Quickflix I decided to watch it on the Samsung TV.

The app responds very quickly, I haven't tried search yet but will soon. The episode started immediately, and had not buffering or anything at all (not that I expected, knowing they use Akamai in New Zealand and TelstraClear seems to have good connectivity to the cache farm).

Overall quite impressed with the app and the delivery. Now for more up to date content please.
