reven: yeah thats another issue I have, on their FAQ (or anywhere on the website) i can't find out what resolution the movies are in.

I can pay basically the same to watch "The Dark Knight Rises" on quickflix or vudu, but is it HD or is it SD? i rather watch on vudu if quickflix is just SD. but quickflix works on my xbox (vudu doesnt because the app is tied to my gamertag, which is a nz one).

I beleive everything except a select few titles are sd and only then the hd is only available on Bravia.
However, I have found that even at sd the quality is pretty good, provided you have a fair broadband connection. DVD quality roughly I'd say. So better than sd TV but not as good as blu ray.

yeah which makes xbox movies, vudu, itunes etc all better options for now seeing as the quality choice of HD.

when they start making movies available in HD (720p is fine) ill likely start renting movies off of it (assuming its faster than streaming from the states, which it should be)

I'm really not impressed right now. Last night I logged in and tried to watch a movie, got an error message about registering too many devices. This is a bit weird as the only computers I've used it on are my laptop and HTPC. I then went and de-registered all my devices (apparently my laptop counts as 4... 3 of which are showing the last movie watched as movies I watched in the first week of launch). Now I'm getting "Registration of this device with Quickflix has exceeded the number of times you can register and deregister a device. Head to www.quickflix.co.nz/ManageDevices for more information or contact Member Care on 0800 002 098" on everything I try. This includes my gaming PC which has never had Quickflix used on it, my macbook and my partners laptop.

There's nothing I can do in the manage devices section of the website, so I call their helpdesk. Called outside of office hours, but their technical support team is there from 2-10 on Saturday. Sweet as, I'll call back at 2. It's now 2:25 and I'm still getting a recorded message saying it's outside of office hours and to try again at 2.

As soon as I can get through I'm cancelling my sub and going back to other routes of acquiring movies.

know how you feel i had the same problem. Rang them and they would only register 1. the site then said only one device registered. Tried to register quickflix android usb dishtv unit and had to ring again, now showing 2 of 5.  Annoying that it says you can have 5 devices but you have to ring them everytime you want to register and they will only do the 1 at a time.  Glad I am not the only one with same problem as you

Content I get from the bay plays whenever and wherever I like. 5 is a retardedly low limitation considering I have 3 capable portable devices sitting beside me, my tv will be capable whenever they get their crap together to release the app for the 2011 samsungs.

It counts browser profiles and user profiles as devices so in a shared laptop house you could blow all your devices count on a single laptop.

+1.  This happened to me a few months back.  I keep meaning to get in touch with Quickflix to resolve it/cancel my subscription, but I keep forgetting.  Another $40 down the tube (my own fault...)

I have now created a Quickflix forum on Geekzone.

I think we should start using new topics for specific features, launches, etc.

Got an email from Orcon yesterday saying that Quickflix has been removed from their "Ozone" unmetered sites list.

It's a real pain. Sky are making sure that no one is going to compete with them

great timing - for months now quickflix has only counted as "off topic", and now its in financial difficulty and about to die, it gets its own forum

I am not sure it's about to die, but we're willing to give it a shot. If things don't work we retire the forum and move to off topic again. We've done this with ISPs before as we constantly change the forum that are not used...

Maybe it might be retired to "off-topic". Signed up in May when they launched, had some minimal use from it, called them and cancelled yesterday. CSR: "why are you leaving?" Me: "Not getting the use out of it" CSR: "we have all this great content from HBO, can give you another month at discount." Me: "No thanks, in NZ, Sky have all the good stuff from HBO locked up, I'll spend the money on a year sub to Pandora." Bye bye Quickflix, nice try, but not now, might be back another time. Wish them well, but content is king - hardly going to see them run Game of Thrones season 3 when it rolls next year...
