BigPipeNZ:

Onehunga for me.  My place seems to be in a 'black hole' for UFB coverage (no 'plan' yet), but I do get 45Mbps VDSL, so that's pretty good in the meantime.

that no plan yet line, but its in a fibre area, is like a huge dangling carrot in-front of you..

im right on the boarder of new lynn and titirangi so somewhat of a dead spot too.

Happily a good 200M from the cabinet for vdsl but none the less, would love that ufb...

Cable too, although considering its dead its not very useful.

got a few people up and running on the trials now (If you're keen, send a message through our website) and looking good so far as you can see from the speedtests.

No specific news on the date, but it won't be too long now.

Wow, London seems low. Would you expect that? My adsl is faster than that to London

OK here's all of the London ones, earlier I actually took the best of three which I did at the time...

Vorboss Ltd

Namesco:

Structured Communications:

Vodafone UK:

Netcetera:

Finally another one from Japan (Tokyo) as it's a similar distance latency wise

Anything in NZ or even to Sydney looks like this:

Looking at my real-time bandwidth graphs I'd say it might be tiny amounts of packet loss, as the TCP ramp up is not smooth as it is with NZ/AU tests.

Sydney will always be real fast, which is great as many gaming servers and other things like Akamai are hosted there.

AWS, Cloudflare, Azure (soon), Google etc all have major presences there, but there's a fair bit of content cached locally too these days. Just about every ISP has at least their own Akamai caches, and have access to a local NZ Google cache through their upstream transit providers if they don't have their own.

Low latency with no packet loss is the key to fasts TCP speeds, without playing around with window sizes or delayed acks you're bound by the laws of physics.

Hey BigPipe,

The "Fibre is coming" signs are up on my street, and there are holes being dug around the corner.  Is it too early to sign up for the trial?  I have read varying times from the start of digging to a useable service (weeks to months).  I am currently on VDSL (with BigPipe of course!)

It probably will be as it usually takes up to 6 months for them to install it, set it up and provision it, and by then the trial will be over.

you can try.

We now have a little section on our homepage for anybody wanting to register interest for UFB  (whether for a trial, or just because you want to get in when it launches) so just head there and put your details in

It's just below the main plan section.

Just had my install done today even though Bigpipe thought it was just an inspection - sent out the router on a same day courier VERY impressed with these guys so far.

After having Fibre and then moving to ADSL so glad to have UFB back.

Have only done a local test but seems good 100/20 plan.
