Hi

Bigpipe kindly arranged for chorus to install a vdsl master splitter for me.
My DN speed was ~17Mbps which is now ~21Mbps immediately after reconnecting.
I have a draytek vigor 130 modem
What can I do now to optimize my speed?

I heard that I should ask for a DLM reset?  Is this correct?

Before then do I need to a factory reset or anything to trigger the modem to re-optimize to the better quality line?

Whats your line attenuation? looks like your simply a borderline connection.

Perfect, so at 18dB you are borderline - with a different modem you would possibly see a bit higher sync rates

Also looks like your on DLM-1 already.

He connected the splitter in the basement of the apartment block, and *I think* he left the phone line (unused) on the exist ?blue-white? line then adding the splitter into the basement and connected the vdsl line to a ?orange+white? pair.

Cool.

So there are no tweaks I can do to get a bit more speed.  Will things improve as the modem adjusts to the better line (or does not such a phenomenon exist?)

I could run modem in bridge mode or something like that?

My modem is vigor 130, so I don't want to buy a more expensive modem than what I already have.

You mean in the same cable, on different pairs?

pretty sure you cant snr tweak on drayteks, atlest in my experience on longer lines they tend to sync lower to hold a better sync and drop it when things get edgy.

DLM might improve it overtime, but its unlikely, i would still say your best bet is to try a few modems if you can get your hands on them for a day or two.. see if its worthwhile swapping out to a different kit for a chipset that syncs higher, or something you can tweak on since that seems to be your target.

Ask Bigpipe to do a Port Refresh (This will reset DLM) and hope that your splitter has done enough to get you off the 8B profile.

This will happen without the refresh but doing so will speed things up.

You're on a very marginal connection. Don't expect anything to change much.

with that attenuation, it wont get off 8b, nor does it matter at that distance. The advantages of 17a is lost by that point

Ohh I wouldn't go to as much trouble as swapping out different modems etc.  I'll email and ask for a port refresh, and just see where I end up.  At least I got things about 25% faster now.  My brother's VDSL gets around 60 or 70 Mbps.

Yes I believe so.  Same cable different pairs.  I'll go down and take a photo.

that is not a new master splitter/filter, that is an old ADSL one

VDSL ones generally have 3 pairs of wires coming out of them
