I haven't heard officially, but unofficially from someone else who has apparently tried to swap from Snap, they were told BigPipe doesn't have the required agreements with Enable so can't offer services in Christchurch? Is this true? If so, when can you?

that is correct

bigpipe is in Auckland and trialing wellington at the moment.

time frame, who knows its one of those commercially sensitive things so i would doubt you would get anything but a non committal answer on that one

they have to come to an arrangement with the fibre companies, it may be in the pipeline or being work one but they aren't a big company so i would imagine they would take one step at a time, ie get wellington sorted then move to the next area

Yeah all good - I understand the commercial situation, just unfortunate if you're a happy customer on *DSL, and then end up in a situation where you can get fibre, but can't stay with the same ISP.

yep,   We're planning to add Christchurch sometime in the next 3-6 months.

It's not just a matter of signing an agreement with enable.  You also have to figure out the right process for handling their orders, access their systems etc (which are different to chorus')  as well as pay to put your own handover into that area.  

It's certainly not a quick and easy job.
