All I have to say is CBD oil is not effective for all illnesses, does not provide an uplifting euphoric effect at all and is cost prohibitive. Ive been offered it and turned it down.
My problem is for palliative care, its important people are vaping/smoking high CBD low THC strains like 5:2 CBD/THC.
Now in NZ there is no way you know what you are smoking, probably some cross polienated skunk mixed with indica hybdrix. Compared to Cali medicinal MJ its a joke.
I think there should be legal stance for medicinal users to import seeds and have legal defense to grow their own 1-2 plants.
Dont get me wrong, CBD can be a good thing, but imo you need THC, its like how l-theanine calms the caffeine in Tea. Yet you drink a lot of coffee you can feel it right.
I've just spent a couple of weeks supporting someone in severe pain. CBD oil was suggested as worth trying, it was a PITA organising a prescription - and expensive. An unscientific anecdote and sample size of one makes what I'm saying pretty meaningless, but here it is anyway:
It might have had some positive effect on mood.
Seemed to have no impact at all on demand for (other) pain relief (opiates etc).
I wouldn't want to discourage anybody from giving it a try, but perhaps don't set high expectations.
Patient had tried (orally) cannabis cookies (ie containing THC), but didn't like the feeling (not a regular or even occasional user).
Tried for pain relief only - ie not for nausea, improving appetite etc, where some people report that it (or either) might have some benefit.
