Rikkitic:

I'm off for my flu vaccination tomorrow. Yay for science!

I'll take my chances, same as previous years.

Oh yeh, 2019 Flu vaccines are out.  Gone 5 years straight without getting the flu for 30$ a pin, its well worth it.

The only "upside" to having a stroke is that you get them for free!

According to ESR, as of 10 April, in 2019 there were 72 total, now only 4.

Most cases in 2019 were European or other, 49, and Maori/Pacifica/Asian 21.

Disturbingly 8 confirmed cases were from people who were fully immunized:

"fully immunized": a child aged between 12 months and 4 years who was reported to have received one dose of vaccine or a person aged over 4 years who was reported to have received two doses of vaccine.

Again as of as of 10 April now there are only 4 measles cases:

2: < 15 months
1: 15 months - 3 years
1: 20-29

You can get measles if fully immunised, but usually much much milder.

Disease = virulence x dose / immunity

Measles Cases Surpass 700 in USA as Outbreak Continues Unabated

The outbreak is now the worst in decades. Children under age 5 account for about half of the cases.

Measles continues to spread in the United States, federal health officials said on Monday, surpassing 700 cases this year as health officials around the country sought aggressive action to stem the worst outbreak in decades.

In New York, an epicenter of the outbreak, city officials closed two more schools for Orthodox Jewish children for failing to comply with an order to exclude unvaccinated children.

In California, hundreds of students and staff members at two universities remained under quarantine following possible exposure to the virus.

And with measles spreading globally, officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have urged Americans traveling abroad to make sure they are immunized against the disease. On Monday, the agency renewed an urgent call for parents to get their children vaccinated.

“The outbreaks in New York City and New York State are the largest and longest-lasting since measles elimination in 2000,” Dr. Nancy Messonnier, the C.D.C.’s director for immunization, said at a news conference.

“The longer this continues, the greater the chances that measles will again get a foothold in the United States,” she said.

The total number of confirmed measles cases since the start of April remains at 17 in Bay of Plenty and Lakes districts.
This does not surprise me as I know there is quite a clique of anti-vaccines in this area

This Dummy Got Chickenpox

Screenshot: ABC News, YouTube

"See this dummy? Imagine him covered in scabby blisters. That’s probably what he looked like the last few days, as he was recently infected with chickenpox. He got the infection because he refused to get the chickenpox vaccinations. That’s particularly poetic because when the local health department banned him from attending school because he was not vaccinated, he sued.

Following a chickenpox outbreak at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Assumption Academy private school in Walton, Kentucky, USA that began in February, Northern Kentucky Health Department barred all students who could not prove they’d been vaccinated against or were immune from, chickenpox. The announcement said the ban would extend until 21 days after the last ill staff member or teacher first shows signs of infection.
