USA Today: Fauci says Santa Claus has 'innate immunity,' won't be spreading COVID-19 to anyone this Christmas

Santa Claus is coming to town. And he's not bringing COVID-19.

At least, that's the word from Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's leading infectious disease expert.

"Santa is exempt from this because Santa, of all the good qualities, has a lot of good innate immunity," Fauci told USA TODAY this week.

This is nonsense. I can't believe that Fauci would say that. My respect for him just took a tumble.

The reality is that Santa is ideally placed to be a super-spreader... multiple close contacts, and played by poor people who cannot afford time off work so are somewhat likely to work while symptomatic.

SMH!

Black Friday in the US is typically among the busiest sales days of the year.

To say they are mixed messages from American retailers is an understatement. Couldn't find an article that really sums up the dog's breakfast.

It's getting close to the middle of Winter also, and older Americans are not known for online shopping.

I guess we'll never know how many died because of the upcoming US holiday shopping, due to lack of contact tracing.

When you combine it with Thanksgiving, its simply going to be a real mess... and its probably not going to get any better until a vaccine rollout begins

Given some of the surveys, possibly not even after that either. You have the ones that trust the origin and will do so simply cause someone told them. And then you have everyone else. Ignoring the existence and not going to take anything cause it's against civil rights/constitution.

Once again, Ruining it for the rest of us. It's going to be the new flu/cold cycle all because they're refusing to be on the same page.

Guess many will be getting something extra with their black friday deal.

Ironic that it is called black friday too this year, as it could have a double meaning in this case

Guess quarantine problems are always going to be with us.

Also in the article, QLD reaches 70 days with no local cases.  Might be about to end though if infections result from this incident.  If so, should be quickly contained though (depending how quickly the officers went into isolation).

Pakistani cricket team has 6 cases, they flouted MIQ apparently. Not condemning Pakistani's but this is why the world is as it is, and we aren't.

IMO they should have been sent back after breaching the rules. But not the first team either as West Indies also breached them a few weeks ago. Disgusting and insulting to all NZers who went into lockdown to get rid of the virus IMO and I won't be watching them.

There are people who can't get back into the country due to the rules and limited capacity, yet these sports teams were given special dispensation to also train in groups during this period.

Also with alot of hospitals having reached saturation again the mortality rate will climb.

Fully agree. We've done the hard yards here. I can't wait to watch the cricket tonight, but thats a poor second to not complying to a well known protocol to keep everyone safe. While every other country has a much larger population and its more challenging, its not hard to see how they cannot control it. We have had our fair share of flouting and process leaks, but the bottom line is a huge % of us follow the rules. That why we have the freedom that we have.
