I saw a clip tonight where Chris Hipkins was walking in, walked past and quickly diverted to the hand wash thing on the wall. (Oops on TV)

2 more confirmed cases from Pulman Hotel, there about same time as first case, left 15th Jan and been in North Auckland since.

North Auckland sites they visited are being posted , Orewa , Oteha Valley, Silverdale , Albany

So looks like something happened to put these people now 3 in total, in the path of being infected at the Hotel, leaving 15th Jan.
Though genomic yet to come through.

People trapsing back and forth to go Smoking seems un-necessary risk when Nicotine patches are deemed to be humane enough elsewhere.

Exercise every day, well once again we are softer than Aussie and most other places, maybe halve the risk by halving exercise breaks.

Maybe up protections for everyone on same floor or within X number of rooms of anyone who tests positive, to be sure no cross contamination.

Sort the maple syrup with waffles thing too, not like it will be real stuff :-) ... Should try Hospital food.

Anyway we have done well so far, hopefully we get a get out of jail free card on this.

Is a walk outside in a confined area worth it? Supply an exercycle and stay in the rooms. Better exercise, no risk

Can you just write where you go in a little notebook for those places? As long as your trip is recorded? I use the ripple app and that is basically a recorder of places visited

She most likely scanned in for the benefit of the TV cameras

In a nutshell, here is why EU officials are furious with AstraZeneca.

They say the contract between them and the pharmaceutical giant clearly stipulates that the two main vaccine production factories in the UK are to be classed as primary manufacturing sites, and the production sites in Belgium and the Netherlands are secondary priorities.

The vaccine production issues are in Belgium and the Netherlands (they have been producing lower yields).

So, this is a no-brainer to EU officials - the UK sites should be used to transport the vaccines across the continent.

And today's impromptu news conference by the EU's Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides shows that any tolerance of the company's previous explanations has worn thin.

In fact, EU officials point out that EU money went into upgrading the facilities in the UK and that they fully expected it to be operational for them.

This has turned into a deeply unpleasant row, and sets the stage for a difficult meeting with the UK-Swedish company.

EU politics may indirectly delay vaccine delivery to NZ.

The hardline on that yesterday, was basically. We make it in an EU region. And EU exports are restricted (to make sure the EU comes first)

As such, you can't be taking 747s away every day to all and sundry without controlled export approval documentation with it

Please stop, and tell us where you are exporting. And don't until we say it's OK to go to that non-EU country. kthx

The one thing that stood out for me with the Northland case was the SHORTAGE of testing nurses. On the first day of testing they had two nurses at the main testing station. One to carry out the swab and the other doing the paperwork.

VERY POOR MANAGEMENT BY ALL (not the ground zero nurses though)

The following day was only marginally better with a team of 5 (I think) coming up from Auckland. Better but not by much.

They are now talking about mobilising the military. Now I am a 'Surge Force Volunteer' based in Tauranga, my preferred area. But I am sure there are surge force voluntaries in at least 99% of the country. I get the big feeling that we are not being utilised as we should be.

Therefore my idea is to have Testing flying squads (teams of 5) based all over the country with a radius of 1-2 hrs travel time. They would have already been fully trained in the testing procedure and the paper/computer work. They would already have a store of all the stocks required; swaps, disposal bins, PPE, marques, stools, tables, pens, paper/computers etc. They get a text/phone call and off they go.

The same deal to apply to the vaccine roll out. Vaccine flying squads all ready trained and stocked up, except maybe for the actual vaccines these would be supplied from refrigerated locations, the same locations as the other required equipment.

Plus more advertising emphasis needs to be placed on QR scanning !!

But the important one is the Testing flying squads. As has now been proven, it is going to get out into the community and the quicker we jump on it the better for all of Team New Zealand.
