I'm curious what the person administering the test actually said to "M".

When Himself tested last November, the nurse said words to the effect "you're fine, you'll be negative" and I dont think he was specifically told to go home and stay home until he got his results.

What advice was given directly to "M" when he got his test?

There have been a number of people claiming to be associated with the papatoetoe testing posting copies of an aledged current Auckland dhb letter to test recipients

It appears to be a boilerplate lvl1 edition. Outlining the low risk 'under current levels' and how testing the community finds undetected spread etc.

link to one here

Except these were targeted testing. And not low level community checks.

HOWEVER as I pointed out to someone defending the 'go about normal activities while awaiting result's' camp it contains. It also says make any specific case or close association known at the time of test. And after the 'go about normal activities' had or follow any instructions from a health officer

To me, the directive during media stand ups and post had been clear. And from the top officer. Self isolate for 14 days. Overriding that paperwork.

But at the same time, if it is a recent copy as they claim. Should have been modified form the papatoetoe regime specifically to kill any doubt causing rebuttals

Literally just received an email from NZ cricket inviting me to buy tickets for the Wednesday T20 at the Cake Tin. I hope people realise they can't attend and don't buy.

Under Level 3 - hold the wedding under a 5G tower.  Even if the service sucks, the reception will be fabulous.

Level 3, cannot travel out of Auckland unless essential. There are now queues and queues of "essential" people at the airport

And on the motorways in (returning so ok) and leaving

Nope. Gyms are supposed to be closed at L3.

https://covid19.govt.nz/alert-system/alert-level-3/#workplaces-and-businesses

  • Customers cannot come onto your premises — unless you are a supermarket, dairy, butcher, fishmonger, greengrocer, petrol station, pharmacy or permitted health service.

Oops my bad.. I was thinking of L2 where you have to book time slots at most gyms to manage capacity. It's just all too confusing now. 😀

IMO confusion is part of the problem. Especially as the MOH has just in the last week changed the definition of close contacts and casual contacts and introduced new terms. There is a lack of education IMO about what people need to do, as many people have forgotten.

The thing about level 3  is that it doesn't usually rely solely on people to do the right thing, or toknow what they should be doing. eg If Auckland had remained in level 3, then gyms wouldn't be open.  Now we have to wait a good amount of time to find out if people have been infected in different places around Auckland. I think the main thing at the moment is to get as much testing done as possible around those areas.

The other thing is all this media hype around NZ getting the vaccination, and possible complacency as a result. I can't understand why they did all that, because the bulk of the population won't get a vaccination for a long time, and NZ will get left behind a bit. Australia seems to be ahead of us and in a far better position overall. I think we have slipped behind Australia in their handling of the virus.

I believe non residents can return home. Taking lvl3 conditions with them.

A large percentage of the boxing and round the bays runners are likely from outside Auckland.

Just like we have heaps of the 20,000 heading back to Auckland today from electric avenue

And it was what student's used last lvl3 to get to their 'new residences' in Dunedin

@tdgeek it’s interesting and concerning looking at Flightradar24 today and watching the number AirNZ and Jetstar aircraft flying out of Auckland to destinations all around Aotearoa. Never new we had so many important folk here.

@kingdragonfly I have removed a political post. When discussing COVID-19 we don't need to read how a specific Republican governor is lying or not.
