sbiddle:
I don't understand how you weren't booked in at the time. Did you refuse?

It's a requirement to get the 2nd appointment booked at the time of the 1st jab, which will also typically be written on your vaccination card at the same time as well.

The design of the vaccination card would indicate that the plan was to have the second jab booked before you left after having the first jab, but that's not the way it's handled in the Waikato.

I don't have a date for the second jab and was told they would call to make a time, which seems a time wasting way to do it. The best and simplest way would be to book the second one at the time of the first one

So far as I can see there is no nationwide system. Just a disparate bunch of websites linked from the Covid site.

Just go here https://www.waikatodhb.health.nz/your-health/covid-19-in-waikato/covid-19-vaccination/ and

here https://immunisation.northernregion.health.nz to see a stark contrast in how this is being handled in different areas. One site has good information including information on where to go, how to you'll be notified when it's your turn and the other by comparison has nothing.

Both sites linked from here https://covid19.govt.nz/covid-19-vaccines/how-to-get-a-covid-19-vaccination/booking-your-vaccination-appointments/vaccine-rollout-information-by-dhb/

Re the booking system, I think there is a new booking system that has not gone fully live yet as part of our $38m+ spend on sales force and others for a vaccine register.

Assume when that goes live it will replace the DHB solutions. Needs to be soon, or the pain of the transition may exceed the gains from the new system.

Reporting at it's best.

Big red banner. BREAKING. Reads

Covid 19 coronavirus: Overseas returnee dies in hospital before entering MIQ

And when you actually click it...

Police confirmed the man was gravely ill and transported direct to hospital after landing at Auckland International Airport last night, before he could be taken to an MIQ facility.

"There was a sudden death last night but sadly the person passed away in hospital before they were taken to the hotel.

"It's a medical event, not Covid-related. The matter will be referred to the Coroner."

So the ONLY link, was the fact he might have been headed to a motel had he not been sick off the plane. But what the hey, throw the trending topic in the mix anyway

Ready by the end of May? It's now the middle of June. Perhaps they were thinking of May next year?

Covid-19: New case of the virus in managed isolation, from unknown country

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/300329518/covid19-new-case-of-the-virus-in-managed-isolation-from-unknown-country

Via Singapore from unknown. Obviously something a little strange is going on is the origin can't readily be disclosed or established.

Its not uncommon to see arrivals with a source TBC

There was one two weeks ago, and there many before that,

Second Australian dies after suffering blood clots related to AstraZeneca vaccine

https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/second-australian-dies-after-suffering-blood-clots-related-to-astrazeneca-vaccine-c-3071286

Total vaccine doses given is ~5.49m (to 9Apr) but hard to find what the split is between Pfizer & AZ (surprise, surprise, they do not seem to be publicising that info!).

But likely over 2m AZ doses(?), so deaths likely <1 per million doses

Edit: though there is one still in intensive care and another 14 still in hospital so it is possible the number will rise.

Positive news is that it is further confirmation that the mortality rate is very low.  Much lower than the C19 case fatality rate for 40 - 50 yr old men or women.
