Israel - follow up to posts last night
Had first jab this morning at our GP clinic. They have all our info so nothing to fill in. ~10 mins waiting (arrived early), 5 max getting the jab, 20 mins waiting then out.
Requested second in 6 - 8 weeks which they were happy with, commenting that 6 weeks is 'optimal' (their default still seems to be 3 weeks though). Once other half heard the optimal bit, of course 6 weeks it is.
something about ease of spread of Delta variant https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/covid-19-coronavirus-scary-cctv-footage-of-virus-spread-at-sydney-mall-has-health-officials-on-edge/HVK3QAFQ5FQXTR6KEWWWACKRYA/
the important follow up question is therefore
- does the 2 Pfizer doses protect infection
- if not, then does it protect from getting very sick

I'm sorry but, all this clamour of "scary" "fleeting contact" is not really news,
We have had documented cases of COVID being passed in MIQ facilities though sharing a lift, just opening the door a few seconds after anther door was opened, or via a rubbish tin, ....
I mean this is a contagious virus... we have known this since the beginning, I think this is something that the media and politicians have forgotten...

Yes, was always contagious but Delta is clearly more contagious and vaccines less protective against it; eg. as evidenced by the increase in cases in the UK, with Delta now by far the predominant strain.
Israeli stats for the distribution of cases by age group.
Almost zero change in the proportions of infections occurring in 40+ age groups*1 (over the last month vs since the start of C19 in Israel). That is, still very similar proportions of all cases are occuring in each of those age groups, despite high levels of vaccination in those age (85% - 99.4% one jab, 80% - 95% fully vaccinated). And despite the last months cases being less than 0.1% of total cases, so clearly are not distorting the distribution of total cases.
The most significant differences are proportionately more in the 10-19 age group (limited vaccinations, attending school*2) and proportionately fewer in the (socially more mobile?) 20-29 and 30-39 age groups who are reasonably well vaccinated (ave ~80% one jab, 74% fully vaccinated)
Note:
*1. Not easily seen in the plot, but there has been a reduction in the proportion within the 90+ age group (better protection being provided to rest homes? Or a now diminished population ...!?)
*2. The data include two very recent school outbreaks (at least 55 cases in total) accounting for more than a quarter of 10-19 age group cases in the last month.
Edit: minor edit to chart legend labelling

All bar one are close/household contacts of existing confirmed cases and were already in isolation....

I get the feeling we got a bit lucky here that there were household contacts here who didn't get infected and spread Covid when someone else in the house got it, this new variant doesn't sound like it will be so forgiving. Fingers crossed we have minimal incursions here from NSW.

2 doses of AZ or Pfizer is extremely effective against Delta. The biggest issue in the UK is their single dose strategy, which has been extremely effective up until now, is far less so against Delta.

Yep - that's not looking good. Gladys Berejiklian will be very reluctant to lock down. ABC news here:

Efficacy isn't easy to measure. UK public health claim that 1x Pfizer or AZ only offer 33% protection. They claim that 2 x Pfizer and 2 x AZ offer 88 and 60% respectively, 96 and 92% reduced chance of hospitalisation.
Either of those exceed expectations from less than a year ago of what they thought could be achieved.
