I think we focussed on the best and stuck with that. The best is a good option when death is on the table. Maybe we could order 8 million AZ, then people can choose which one they want? Blood clots are low risk. Or use Pfizer as that appears to be the best in class. The key is that we don't have Covid here, we have time. If we were being ravaged as most countries are, then yes, anything will do.
FineWine:
Very interesting article from the BBC News: Mixing Covid vaccines gives good protection, study suggests
That might speed things up in Aussie, cause don't they have both and are making the AZ themselves?
It should should certainly be great for the poorer countries who could now buy from whomever is offering the cheapest at the time.
best T cell response AZ first the Pfizer.
now where are our AZ supply ...

Great news, get MoH to order 5 million doses for delivery next week. And why did you hold back this information you should have told MoH when they ordered. Or is hindsight not an option?
This is getting ridiculous

Am in Christchurch and the CDHB basically have said on their website. Don't call.
So I think I might call them now.
I tried.
CHDB say no.
Guess I'll have to go looking. Bah humbug.

I'm also Group 3 due to one health issue, I'm just waiting. CDHB
But I checked my GP's website, and some interesting info re nationwide that I wasn't aware of (possibly because I just forget about it and sit and wait) RThjis is CDHB, but re the bold
To roll out the largest vaccination programme in our history we are vaccinating people in groups, starting with those most likely to catch the virus and those most at risk of getting sick.
Our focus is on continuing to get those in Groups 1 and 2 vaccinated and those in Group 3 booked and vaccinated. Everyone in Group 3 will be invited to book their vaccination by the end of July.
From 28 July people in Group 4 will be able to register their details on Book My Vaccine (the new national booking system). Once bookings are open for each age group people will be sent an email or text letting them know it’s their turn to book. Book My Vaccine and a national booking 0800 number will be ready to use from 28 July.
When it is your turn to book an appointment, you will be contacted directly with instructions about how to book. This will be by text, email, letter or phone call.
If you’re in Group 3 and you haven’t been contacted to book your vaccination, you don’t need to do anything right now. you will be contacted when it’s your turn. Please be patient.
That bit is exactly what the video I posted a few pages back talks about - how the system works and the date from when you can start booking.

The last paragraph in that article states:
But it's also worth noting that mixing vaccines does produce more short-term side effects such as chills, headaches and muscle pain.
Very rare more severe side effects are a reality with both vaccines, the public reaction (vaccine hesitancy = increased deaths and severe illness) to that far outweighs any risk, but at least that risk is known.
We have a plan, frustratingly slow that may seem to be, but we need to stick to it.
Meanwhile if we stuff-up with quarantine, we're going to be in deep sh*t regardless, and if we stuff up vaccine rollout in some way that encourages "vaccine hesitancy" we'll sabotage the chance of an "exit plan" working without too many continued restrictions and probably deaths - and unfortunately those deaths won't be confined to just the idiots who refused to be vaccinated.
19 cases in NSW, 17 already linked, 2 under investigation. 67,000 tests.
That's not bad news, they're picking up cases infected before lockdown.
Wellington to drop back to level 1 at midnight.
Travel bubble planned to resume with SA, ACT, Vic, and Tas from July 5.
(that's being reported in Aus - doesn't seem to have made the news in NZ yet)
Is Melbourne all clear of CT now? re Vic

The 72 hour negative test will probably slow down leisure travel bookings,
We are gonna hear more tourism gripes for a while, VIC is pretty much the only major population included.
ACT/TAS population are only 500K, SA is about 1.8m
Air NZ has no direct flights to Canberra, so its probably a bit moot as they would have to transit out via MEL
Adelaide and Hobart flights are only a couple a week,

From memory they have had "donut" days for the last 3-4 days...

Aaah - that wasn't mentioned in the news I read earlier. Can't say I'm sad about it.
OTOH the 72 hour test probably wouldn't have picked up the case we had before he flew to Wgtn.
if you are going to get vaccinated check the address
