Care to elaborate why?

They're an infection risk for everybody.

C-19 is going to be an endemic disease that kills people - like 'flu but much much worse - for the foreseeable future.

Their actions will sabotage everything we've sacrificed.  The problem isn't so much that they'll be suffocating on their own jellified lung tissue. I don't want any of them on a plane or a bus, or in a restaurant, or in a shop or any other public place where their selfish behaviour kills innocent people. The only alternative to "excluding" them is accepting that the elderly, transplant recipients, cancer patients, people with immune disorders etc - can no longer live as close as possible to normal lives in society.  Morally, their cries for "freedumb" do not stack up - not even close.  They are evil.

If you want to get vaccinated that's fine but what other people do is up to them and none of your business especially considering you can still catch covid after 2 doses of vaccine. Im not anti vaxx but will be sitting this one out and the idea that should be restricted in my Daily life because of a personal choice doesn't well with me. I thought we lived in a democracy not a communist dictatorship.

You're going to love 2022.

Go whinge to someone else about restrictions to your daily life if you don't do the right thing, it's your choice so deal with the consequences.

No I'm not, have had flu vaccinations before
And various other vaccine in the past, but this one seems
Far too rushed and nobody really knows the long term effects of being injected with Mrna material.

In my opinion this last bit of the paragraph makes all the difference. This is a fallacy and I can't trust anything after this.

Oh yes it is my business and everyone else's business.

LOL - a "communist dictatorship"

Do you realise that freedumb warriors are just a pack of sad ignorant losers - a minority screaming at the clouds?

So if Someone doesn't agree with you their a "sad ignorant loser"

At the end of the day the Covid vaccine doesn't prevent you from catching it as has been proven time and time again so you can still pass it on, infact it's potentially more dangerous as you may not show any symptoms meaning you will go around infecting people without even knowing.
Recent studys show your 7 times less likely to catch covid again after getting natural immunity compared to the vaccine.

No, only if someone mentions a well known dog-whistle.

I'd love you to explain how any of the Covid vaccines were rushed. Considering I've yet to see a single plausible explanation of this anywhere on the Internet (and lots of people love saying "the vaccines are rushed") your challenge is to impress me.

So you've said it - what's your reasoning?

And rushed compared to what exactly?

I didn't accuse you of that - I accused "freedumb warriors" of being sad ignorant losers.

If you self-identify as a freedumb warrior, then 'nuff said I guess.

It's the anti-vaxxer equivalent to "the Twin Towers were controlled demolition because the collapse video looked wrong". What, compared to all the other videos of 110-story towers collapsing you've seen?

The story was doing the rounds last week on conspiracy (where I read it) and conservative news sites - it's actually 6.72 and it's based off some Israeli data. It's also apparently a big conspiracy that Bing shows all the links to this work but Google doesn't because they're suppressing the truth...

It's not true that "natural immunity" gives better protection that the mRNA vaccines.  Quite the reverse:

I challenge you to explain how mRNA vaccines are made, how they work, and based on your understanding of that, what these claimed potential long-term risks are.

wellygary:

But we all know its highly unlikely, 8 million doses would be pretty much 100% of the target population....

If we were to get 90% coverage that would be 3.6 million ppl, or 7.2 million doses, or an additional 5.2 million (subtract the 2 million already done)  5.2 million over 122 days is just over 42K per day...

Was that based on 12+ or 18+ ?

(sorry - too lazy to look up or work out for myself)

NZ Stats does not make it easy.  Recent 'readily available' (quick find on website) data only gives population estimates in 5-year age bands (Jun  2018) or 0-14, 14-39, .. (Jun202).

As at 30 June 20, they estimate the 15+ population as 81.0% of total.  Doing a bit of judicious scaling gives 12+ as ~85.3% of total.

Based on total population of 5.116m as at 31 March gives the 12+ population as 4.36m.

8m doses therefore corresponds to ~91.7% of the population fully vaccinated.

May be difficult to achieve that before the end of the year but not impossible eventually, especially if incentives are given, border looks likely to start opening, and/or restrictions start being applied requiring vaccination for certain activities (already occurring overseas).

Already >90% of 60+ in Israel and 50+ in UK have had a first dose.  And getting close in Singapore: ~87% of 40-69, and already 83% of 12-39 age group (both still rising).  Oddly(?), it is the 70+ age group in Singapore that now has the lowest rate of vaccination (79% had first dose).

i think getting into an argument with someone won't change their mind.

perhaps try a neutral dialogue and see where it goes. gives a better chance.
