Do you need to wear them outside? No one I have seen is, although if there are a lot of people around that may be different.

They haven't mandated masks outside; just "it would be nice if you do"

I was just looking this up on the above comments. As I have seen mixed use on the roads walking

We encourage you to wear a face covering and keep 2 metres distance from others when leaving your home. Especially if it is difficult to maintain physical distance from others.

When we walk, we cross the road or go on it. Even more than 2. Noooo worries.

The Waikato District Council have just sent out an update to ratepayers and one section says:

It's important you and your whānau exercise daily but there are a few rules and guidelines when you leave your house:

  • Low-risk activities only: care must be taken not to be injured and require medical care
  • Social distance (2m apart) at all times
  • All Council parks are open but playgrounds are closed
  • Dogs must remain on-leash at all times (including dog parks)
  • The Hakarimata track is closed
  • No water-based activities - that includes kayaking, boating and surfing
  • If you're doing activities outside, please wear a mask when you leave the house.

I don't think it's too much to ask, all things considered.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Went for a quick bit of exercise by our stream, very please to see all folks we passed were wearing masks. The Ducks, Pukeko, Tui and Kereru were not wearing masks so we need to sort that out.

Are you sure they were real birds - not plague doctors who teleported in from the 17th century?

He's probably coughed on all the food. Best thing to do now is take it all outside and set fire to it.

jk....

People were sanitizing packets during the last lockdown and cleaning them off.

Countdown etc is profitable enough, and they may even make more profit through lockdown.
They can absolutely afford to assure all their contractors and staff have free masks and sanitizer.
However individual store owners may differ in their views, I have seen big difference in staff masking between some stores last lockdowns.
Send them a complaint it should not happen.
I would 'hope' they allow drivers to take a box of masks when they need, but pessimist in me says they make contractors pay.

I don't understand why people are not making use of the Healthpoint website (which I note Ashley Bloomfield spruiks every single day) which lists testing locations - of which there are plenty.

There are - or were when I checked a few days ago - plenty on the Healthpoint site, but plenty less when you check the locations they link to for testing. That's why I ended up at a pop-up site, all the more official locations like medical centres were: No indication that they do testing, testing starts next week some time, testing only for enrolled clients, ...

Hopefully that was just startup glitches and it's better now.

An interesting analysis of the numbers regarding the current situation in NSW. Shows exactly why NZ needs this lockdown. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ga3Lgjvu0c&ab_channel=AutoExpertJohnCadogan

Zero legal requirement to wear masks outdoors. There is also zero requirement to wear them indoors unless you're working in a place where you interact with the public - so many still working in offices don't need to wear masks but some companies are mandating this.

The new rules passed on Wednesday really are a joke. The requirement to wear masks indoors when outside your home should have been the minimum requirement.

Tried to get an answer from Coundown re why no mask for deliveries.

Let's just say "That's 15 minutes of my life I'll never get back!" A very frustrating no result experience.

More interested in getting my details, to which I said they didn't need to know! Didn't even ask where it was observed.

I said very disappointing, goodbye, and hung up.
