mattwnz: Just returned from supermarket and some staff are still not wearing masks, only plastic face shields. I am not that surprised that supermarkets are becoming covid hotshots. I suspect if I report it to the supermarket they will say that they are permitted as an alternative. I think Auckland may see supermarket shopping restrictions but I don't know how that will work

good idea , lets restrict or close supermarkets and make people drive and travel even further around Auckland to get food .

Common sense is not as common as you think.

The MOH may not be releasing any more details about the cases because if there is little or no CT happening other parts of NZ especially the SI might start causing a noise about being stuck in L3 and want a shift to L2 or even L1.

That is one of the suggestions from one of the NZ experts. But surely it would result in panic buying.

I would doubt it, because NZ is a mobile country and there is still essential travel occurring throughout NZ which could allow it to spread. This is really the problem we now have,  containing the outbreak to Auckland, and starving the virus of new hosts .

Listening to the Kaka podcast, it sounds like the issue is more to do with the contact tracing being overwhelmed, so taking far longer to trace cases back. I read a few days ago that a 1/4 of close contacts of POIs have yet to be tested.

Can people fly their drone on their farm during level 4? Asking for a friend.

Why wouldn't you be able to fly your drone at your home?

I too read that and went. Are they talking cars. Quads. Or motorhomes

As that is super open to interpretation.. again.

There are motorhomes here for a month at a time normally with them lining the river. They drive here. But they walk out the door for the rest of the time.

I recall it wasn't permitted to fly unmanned aircraft in the first lockdown last year. But can't see mention of it this time.

The order only bans the flying of "manned aircraft", so I don't see an issue with flying an unmanned aircraft.

I bet that will be changed in a day or too. The order specifically allows travel to a place that is readily accessible by vehicle:

The order isn't super clear, but the intent seems to be that one can travel via a road vehicle to the location, but not off road vehicles and motorized equipment.

DS248:

If our current outbreak has reached a turning point (a big 'if'), it could well take a further 7 weeks for our case numbers to drop to 3/day

We have no idea of that. We got told 82 cases. For all we know its 82 new cases in a new LOI and all hell breaks loose, all are CT. OR its 82 new cases in existing households which means CT = zero. Its becoming a farce.

We have no idea about the "actual" spread.

especially with daily numbers still rising so far into lockdown.

I have no idea if that's the case. Who said they are rising?
