Batman: We're not out of the woods or has the Wellington person been isolating while infectious? Seed from Auckland or local transmission?

25% of yesterdays cases have exposure events and 75% were in isolation through the period they were infected. I'm sure the Wellington cases was isolating.

TeaLeaf: Just shows the variance in initial side effects, which is why Im trying not to buy into any singular experience.

It does sound like you're reaching for any possible straw, no matter how tenuous, to avoid getting the vaccine though. Over 5.3 billion doses have been given now and the rate of side effects outside of sore muscles, headaches, lethargy (which are mild, short-lived effects) is negligible.

Stop prevaricating and just go and get the damn jab.

freitasm:Sweet cheesus.

Has anyone had Benzathine benzylpenicillin on the arm or buttocks before?

If you had, you wouldn't complain of this one.

No pain here. At all.

Yep, as I was given it prophylactically as I was a close contact with an overseas refugee as a nurse. Uncomfortable yes - Hurt no. Again, if these things are done right by experienced practitioners then all should be relatively pain free. Though with all of these injection sites it does depend on how much muscle you have at the chosen site and a jab like B-penicillin-G, which is very viscus and should be given slowly, is going to hurt those of very lean muscle mass ☹️

MIQs have probably been getting a workout with sports, more essential workers, emergency repatriations , and Afghanistan evacuation.
Its a constant risk and managing ventilation, underground carpark exercise, maybe someone here can provide some IOT Co2 sensors.

Looks like NSW will adjust flight rules to include vaccination requirement in addition to testing.
No Vax and No Test No Fly.
Moving to a Singapore model it seems, maybe they will do the same 4 tests with home isolation mooted too.

NSW Covid update: health staff redirected from hotel quarantine to stressed hospital system

""
New South Wales will halve the number of international passengers it accepts for at least a month so health workers within the hotel quarantine system can be redeployed to the state’s under-pressure hospital system.
""
NSW’s current weekly international arrival intake of about 1,505 – the largest of any state – would shrink to about 750 from next week but could be scaled up again once the state reaches a 70% double vaccination rate of the adult population in October.

Singapore still has issues with vulnerable lowly paid sectors, bus drivers and interchanges seem to be latest at center of latest outbreak.

CDHB is piecemeal!

You're on a priority list and we will notify you - Yeah Nah!

Mother / Mother in Law Both registered / booked as soon as able - Still Waiting. (Both were Cancelled and rebooked)

Myself and SO Booked when able, soonest appt near us (Which we took) is still over 5 weeks away. (If they have any vaccine left by then?)

Brother & Wife (Booked) still waiting etc etc.

Not a case of not wanting it, but not the easiest straight forward way to get it in a timely fashion.

Well done to those who have had an easy path....

Might be an AKL thing? If they are sending less elsewhere in the short term and more to AKL while supplies are running down?

Fred99: 1116 new cases in NSW - 4 deaths.
There are currently 917 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 150 people in intensive care, 66 of whom require ventilation.

Also somewhat disconcertingly, Vic reported 120 new local cases, which is about 30% more than their previous high in their current outbreak.  Despite their stronger early lockdown, they continue to closely follow the NSW trend.

ACT continuing to tread water with no evidence that they of getting on top of their outbreak despite locking down after the first case detected.

Haha nice one, given Ive spent most of this week so far trying to get "jabbed". Not at all, was just responding to discussion re initial side effects of the vaccine. Im in next week, its a couple hours round trip but worth it. It is likely the auditing for centres/pharmacies that got put on hold due to lockdown, will be done ASAP out of lockdown, so accessibility/availability for future boosters will not be an issue.

Thanks for that detail on NSW.

Vaccines are clearly not the be all and end all of "living with covid" and future novel viruses potentially with much higher mortality. Lessons learnt etc (hopefully). It will be very interesting to see the permanent changes the virus will make to civilization. The combination of medicine, science, engineering and technology/information put us in a much better position than historical novel virus pandemics, eg 1918.

Just shows you how judgemental people are. I'm more afraid of social media crucifying me if I got covid than the Covid itself.

Yes, but what puzzles me is they do not seem to understand that if they went just a little harder, their present outbreak would very likely have been done and dusted as per QLD.  Or if they do, for some reason they think it is better to let it drag on for multiple months with gradually increasing case numbers.  The cost must ultimately be so much higher.  At present their case numbers are still low enough that they would have a good chance of getting on top of it if they went that small extra step.

Yep. especially when not in the other persons shoes, but can't let negativity get one down bruv, like most forums. Hopefully in time that is part of the resolution, we will all be in the same position with this virus, aside from those that refuse to accept help. That number hopefully is relatively low.

Lets see where the Govt takes us outside Vaccines, but it seems internationally the Vaccine passport is gathering momentum, so those not choosing to opt in (which is their right) will be somewhat limited in holiday destinations haha. But vaccines alone are not going to stop this virus, especially when internationally we are far from being in the same position as each other. The future on the bright side, will be colorful.

I hear ya mate. I been getting flack because supposedly its as easy as "drive through" vaccinating (which is for frontline/essential workers).

Try to keep chin up, I know that is hard to take seriously in the current environment.

This party is far from its conclusion.

absolutely. The c12 variant mutating twice the speed of any other is possibly a case of not if but when. That variant hotlist (I think on the WHO site) is 5 deep. The question I guess is, can we get it under control before it mutates to something equivalent to Ebola mortality. Im hopeful it wont be the Pandemic B. Gates was referring to just prior to Covid. But given this is far from the first novel, it certainly wont be the last, so those lessons learnt better become permanent.

Not really a surprise that delta variants are popping up.  I doubt many believe that delta is the endgame.
