The Media statement put out by the MoH today is the most informative yet.
Number of community cases by location,

Number of epidemiologically unlinked cases,

Number of cases in isolation throughout infectious period (all-through for some reason the want you to do some basic math to get from a percentage to a actual number)

Vaccine numbers, etc etc

Long may this continue.

Brother & Wife (Booked) still waiting etc etc.

Not a case of not wanting it, but not the easiest straight forward way to get it in a timely fashion.

Well done to those who have had an easy path....

In CDHB I got mine several months ago, 5 mins on phone to book (medical professional). Wife booked online month ago, no issue and now fully vaccinated. Today I booked my two eligible kids for their appointments on the 7th of Sept. Parents all sorted as well.

If you want to get urgently there are still appointments available in Amberley for the 7th and 8th of September and can rebook there. We are in North Canterbury so is only 20 mins drive for us, slightly longer from the city but not too bad with the northern corridor.

Well done to those who have had an easy path....

I hear ya mate. I been getting flack because supposedly its as easy as "drive through" vaccinating (which is for frontline/essential workers). Try to keep chin up, I know that is hard to take seriously in the current environment.

Where are you located? Because there are a lot more places now where anyone can get a vaccine.

The c12 variant mutating twice the speed of any other is possibly a case of not if but when. That variant hotlist (I think on the WHO site) is 5 deep. The question I guess is, can we get it under control before it mutates to something equivalent to Ebola mortality. Im hopeful it wont be the Pandemic B. Gates was referring to just prior to Covid. But given this is far from the first novel, it certainly wont be the last, so those lessons learnt better become permanent.

I have asked you before for a citation on a different statement.

This one "variant mutating twice the speed" also requires a citation.

If you cannot provide reliable and verifiable sources I will block you from posting in this thread.

Are there updates for the vaccines to cope with the variants? I do wonder what the projections are long term. If NZ gets to 80 percent vaccination and we then get an outbreak, would NZ go into another lockdown or will they let it spread. But doing so risks creating new variants. I think they need a vaccine that actually stops it spreading.

Haha nice one, given Ive spent most of this week so far trying to get "jabbed".

You mustn't have been trying too hard, there are drive through vaccine centers in at lease a couple of places in Auckland and while they say appointments i know a lot of people who have just shown up. So no excuse on that front.

Just do it.

Haven't the governemnt said they won't run out? IMO if people are booked in, then that should secure it for then. The problem seems to be these walk in pop up ones. If they aren't recording people that have had the vaccine, and not requiring any ID etc, then what is to do people getting more than 2 vaccines? Hope we don't have stories of people saying they got more than 2 because they thought it would protect them more.

Yep. Booked there for Albany originally, 17th October. But have cancelled that as have access down south next week, provided there are doses remaining obviously. But will try again as that sounds promising. Maybe the audits causing some of the congestion have been done. You said you just walked into your local, Im not worried about the 1st shot and the 2nd I should be able to get done at my local by late October, so Im pretty set. :-)

Re c.12. Yes perhaps I should have put "supposedly" as its very hard to know even on well known sites what is misinformation. Im conversing on here as there are plenty of in the know, so its a learning process partly from knowledgeable biology assetts here. I thought the c.12 mutation was already discussed, so apologies, I will try to find the article again and debunk it if its false. So any comments in the thread need to be referenced. Fair enough.
