David Seymour, MP for the seat of White Privilege.

What he did this morning is unforgiveable.  Sabotage.

Queue jumping advice? Saw someones tweet about it with his contact details released as retort.

He has been advocating that the current incumbent is 'not doing enough' to make it available to everyone/fast enough and so on.

This is likely a stir up of that, after more money and focus has been directed/thrown at further attempts to try and get targeted jab figures up over the past week. There is only so far one can go to entice another. It is then up to the individuals, and don't feel the rest should be held accountable to continue to strive to make it 'look' better due to media attention.

TeaLeaf: There is one guy in the dive community breaking the lvl 4 rules, hes saying the civil rights laws will protect him....

Yeah. The "civil rights laws" might not protect him from covid though.

So true. Not only this, but with skeleton rescue crew on, if people follow his lead, the resource will be swamped. People seem to think Civil rights are more important than moral duty to care for all. I don't get it.

I did see an article (will try to find it to have it fact checked) but was a law professor stating lockdowns may breach civil right laws. The keyword being "may". Again, people using Google and randomized mis/disinformation as fact.

Im sure we have some lawyers on here with a perspective on Civil rights in times of Civil emergency ie pandemics.

Either way, anybody with experience is ignoring them. Stay out of potentially, very dangerous currents etc (which is where most pelagics congregate).

He deliberately sabotaged a program to increase vaccine uptake by Maori, and did so deliberately dog-whistling racial division.  He knows exactly what he did and why.  He's a hater.  Trump NZ.

It's inexcusable for an MP to do what he's done.  MPs from other parties have resigned for less.

FYI TeaLeaf you only really need one linebreak for a gap. Double ends up in really long and spaced out posts :)

Only 2000 tests in Auckland in the last day. Yet they still picked up 20 cases 5 of which were still going around the community so were not household contacts. People in Auckland need to get tested.

With what we see on the streets. And the continual good-news stories.

It's likely more a case of, we-got-this syndrome. The majority of those figures will be isolating early identified day 12ers and family household contacts too. Which will skew to more likelyhood of positives for the lower rates.

It's all good. Next time there is another big place of interest added and no good-news story it'll jump right back!

Yes, sorta. Not many with symptoms, but they did hoover up another 20. Its time to do surveillance testing up there

Or more broadly gave it to people who are actually eligible for this priority, but never knew about it?

Case in point, my in-laws who are eligible and were booked for late October here in Auckland, had no idea they were able to use this code until they saw it on the news. So they trundled off to get their vaccine today.

So you are against Maori, who were never contacted to inform them of this code using it?

My in-laws are thankful that this was shared.

Re Maori vaccination. If they were concerned.

Why don't go to a Marae and hold a feast and dish out the jab?

(Pre level 4 that is, not now.)

One of the latest attempt involved a 4x4 going bush and offering it door to door by the sound of the reporter asking yesterday.

It seems although there are popup clinics and so forth happening like this, it's still not reflecting in the stats. So are asking about providing even more engagement.

Particularly non-english.

There was of course the 50+ (against the rollout) attempt earlier in the year https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/300287336/covid19-northland-offers-vaccines-to-all-over50s-bucking-ministry-advice That went sour

But the stats have remained low even from early August. So like you also suggest, not sure what more can be done.

Presume you are referring to Prof Andrew Geddis? His point is that Parliament should tidy up some old law that isn't watertight not that lockdowns are bad things. He's made this comment
"So, lest any casually dishevelled ageing radio shock-jock discovers our post via social media and uses it to breathlessly declare that two law profs claim the lockdown rules can be ignored, we’re definitely not saying that. As of right now, the rules set out in the various Health Act notices are presumptively valid. The police have the power to enforce them. If you ignore them, you can be arrested and prosecuted for doing so, with a potential jail sentence to follow."
