And just like that. 20 less medical staff

Batman: it's all over the gangs, it's in the prisons. also definitely underestimated - just look at the prisoner released that's brought it outside of AKL now

Batman:
i guess it's not where you start but where you finish, in this case.
If we had started earlier then the pain in the last few months could have been somewhat mitigated. I think it absolutely matters where (and when) we started.
when you stock up the freezers and pat yourselves in the back and reject more doses from the supplier, this is what you end up with, seconds.
since we can't claim a win in the start, let's hope we do good in the finish.
Oblivian:
certainly don't really want to be now seen offering people incentives you and I ultimately will pay for in years to come, unless the outcome can actually be calculated as being positive.
Bottom line is, we will be paying one way or another, either by lockdowns and other medical/healthcare costs, or in 'wasting' money by giving incentives to people who wouldn't otherwise get one.
Yes there will be some people taking the piss, but there always are, and it's *still* going to be *bucketloads* cheaper than staying in lockdown.
Oblivian:
Not sure who else caught it, but 50-60 positives are expected in the next coming days. So something happened they are aware of. I'll dig the transcript when it comes out for the exacts.
Yes, I heard that, I'm sure it related to known family/neighbour intermingling, and they take the contacts of all those as impending household infections. But again, Id rather have that than randoms infecting randoms

So you've gone and run tests yourself in "the prisons?"
i thoguht the guy got it from the prison.
but it seems we are not going to be told https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/300411851/covid19-person-who-gave-virus-to-prisoner-identified-pm-says

Like when hordes of people queue an inch from each other waiting for takeaways ? :)

it doesn't say why he was hiding and where it got the covid from. very suspiscious.
every time there is a covid, the first thing i want to know is whom they got it from, and whom, and whom ...
i think that's an appropriate question as long as covid is not endemic. if it's endemic there's no need to ask too many questions

First Christchurch Friday of 3, 40min wait at the FnC concurs. Drive through is more manageable in that regard. But door sales (even the booze shops) were.. interesting.
Batman:
it's definitely the underworld that spread the virus. it's all over the gangs, it's in the prisons. also definitely underestimated - just look at the prisoner released that's brought it outside of AKL now
I thought they said the prisons are clean, and transporting them from Level 2 by Level 2 was appropriate, but the hints the PM may have slipped, is that one or more contacts of the prisoner infected the prisoner, and thus whoever in the Corections system who was part of that is now isolated
But your post is more entertaining than my boring one :-)

Now, yes, but takeaways are contactless. Stay in the car

can't find the link now but you're right,
i read something since, that says new prisoners don't mix with inmates until they test negative.
and that they are confident covid is not in the prisons. (sorry i don't know how many prisons there are in AKL i presume there is more than 1)

Are those new rules? (Genuine question, I haven't had a chance to look). The last time we went from L4 to L3, the queues outside of local Indian places, burger places, were all massive, and not many people wore masks or were socially distanced at all.
I am unsure how that would work for a lot of places if they can only deliver to your car.

It would appear he got picked up by Level 4 friend/family, more than one, that's I assume the infector. But rules were broken. Id say: 1. too may stops, you can only stop if its essential 2. Who allowed a Level 4 person to travel from Level 4 to Level 2?
When Wellington was in level 3 a couple of weeks ago you could walk to the shops to collect takeaways, but you couldn't physically enter the store. i.e. you had to wait outside until your order was ready, then approach the store entrance to collect.
Requiring people to have a car to collect takeaways would be nuts.
