No it hasn't - it confirmed that an earlier case where a woman plus male companion travelled from Auckland at Level 4 to Wellington and that she is a SW. It is still conjecture on the Northland case.

"Confirmation that the woman who came to Wellington was a sex worker comes after it was reported that two women – understood to be sex workers – had travelled from Auckland to Northland"

Here I am in Christchurch knocking on wood hoping it doesn't come down here but I am on the fence thinking "Okay it's no longer a matter of "IF" but "WHEN" it's going to hit the S.I".

I am not the one to be a pessimist but we are no longer handling at all and I suppose all we can do is just vaccinate and hope for the best.

Wow. And 31 of Fridays 45 cases were infectious in the community. If AKL runs L3 like L2, I guess its going to be a very long haul. Waikato seems to be holding

I am too and I gave up a week or more ago. Unsure if the lower compliance this time round in AKL will be typical everywhere. It probably will be. If Waikato drops a level, which is possible, then that may be a lesson for others to comply. OTOH if you arent complying, why change?

60 cases

Holy..

Sounds a lot like the definition for alert level 4 has been met?

It will be extremely unpopular to do so even though we could. Would it actually have an effect? Not a epidemic expert so can't offer an answer.

No. Non compliers will still not comply. Compliers will continue to comply and continue to be penalised.

Yes, I agree
I'm afraid that the only way a new L4 lockdown in Auckland (which IMO is what's needed) could work would be if there was very intensive and obtrusive policing of the lockdown conditions.
But I don't think that the NZ Police have either the staffing or the budget or the organisational willpower to do that. I also think that the government would not be prepared to authorise such a programme.

That being the case all we've got is "vaccinate and hope"

Don't vacillate, vaccinate

Batman:

rugrat:

I’m trying to interpret this bit

”Our data, as well as data from around the world, clearly show that vaccination sharply reduces the risk of serious illness. The vast majority of local cases (more than 98 per cent) have mild or no symptoms. Only 2 per cent or less developed more serious illness. Of these, 0.2 per cent died or needed ICU treatment - just two out of every one thousand cases. ”

So it is referring to vaccinated. I read it as 0.2 percent need ICU or die, but it is 0.2% of the 2% that get badly sick so that could change the equation.

My second jab is in a couple of days.

it is 0.2% of the 2%

4 in 100,000 needing ICU or death

if fully vaccinated

according to PM of SG

It's not 4 in 100,000

It's 2 in 1000 of 'all' covid cases.

980 have mild/no symptoms.

20 develop more serious illness (hospital?) of which 2 end up in ICU or die.

The weather is amazing in Auckland. Can't figure out if this is good or bad in light of current case numbers.
