Being unvaccinated can have consequences for medical treatment.

In USA and I suppose other places too.
There has been necessity of not doing certain operations with low survivability for unvaccinated.
https://www.healthline.com/health-news/why-unvaccinated-people-are-being-denied-organ-transplants
https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2021-10-07/colorado-woman-who-wont-get-vaccinated-denied-transplant

Hospital facilities are even more limited than they were, due to load on system of Covid patents.
Plus the potential for you to catch Covid in the Hospital or community in an outbreak, and low survivability.

Vaccinated or no you may not get treatment you need anyway.
There was this guy with broken bones and gunshot wounds sitting waiting as there was no capability.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/08/16/joel-valdez-houston-covid-hospitals/

Don't fall off a ladder when Auckland outbreak really gets going.

Rock up to Middlemore on a good day.
Try getting certain treatments with a high BMI or while you keep smoking, or can't pass a fitness test.
Lower survivability and you are refused as resources are limited.
Lifestyle change is your only chance.  Unless you are a celebrity.

I had an older but active relative refused rehabilitation treatment for a broken limb.
It took a bit of fighting and a bit of help from a nurse who saw them being railroaded out the door.

Sorry for my curt response but I take a really dim view of people bringing up the Star of David badges. We've been through epidemics before in NZ, our forebears managed to follow public health advice when it came to Spanish Flu, TB, Measles, Polio etc. It's not that hard.

Too much reliance on vaccine certs for jobs, freedom and the pressure to hit 90% has also pushed people towards vaccine cert fraud. What is the fraud rate going to be.

Itll be more interesting to see who will be enforcing no vax no entry into places.

I dont see an 18YO kid wanting to get assaulted to enforce such things on certain people.

Guys,

Let’s keep it civil. I know emotions are running high… heck my stomach dropped when I saw:

Aucklanders will "absolutely" be able to share Christmas with family, Ardern said.

Source: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-delta-outbreak-pm-jacinda-ardern-reveals-nzs-new-traffic-light-system-90-per-cent-vaccination-target/2GKTYBQ7K34VGFTA33YFXJZF5M/

Morph into:

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern hopes fully vaccinated Aucklanders will be able to leave the Delta-hit city by Christmas - but she can't give any guarantees, even if the city hits the 90 per cent vaccination target.

That's because there remains a risk of an Aucklander taking the virus to another part of the country and sparking a new outbreak, and that risk increases dramatically if the boundary is opened to one million fully vaccinated Aucklanders.

As an Aucklander, I am absolutely frustrated at the lockdown and the precursors to lockdown, but I realise that there is no point killing the civil discourse we have here. Let’s keep it civil please.

Exactly the same response as you this morning after reading that article ... and then I read Stuff who instead said this (also apparently quoting the PM) (https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/126764489/covid19-vaccinated-aucklanders-should-be-able-to-travel-across-border-for-christmas--jacinda-ardern) :

In an interview with Stuff, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed that while the Auckland boundary would stay in place for now, there would be able to be two-way travel in and out of Auckland by Christmas.

But travel will be allowed only for fully vaccinated New Zealanders who had vaccine certificates, and had tested negative for Covid-19 if leaving Auckland. Those who have not been vaccinated will not be allowed to travel.

Real mixed messaging coming through ... unfortunately, I sense the NZHerald one is probably closer to the truth ... also of note, in that article it was stated "People also won't be able to travel into Auckland until every DHB around the country hits the 90 per cent target, due to the risk of catching Delta while they're there and triggering an outbreak when they return home."

Thats all true but even in red light they can open, orange and green its BAU, that's a whole lot better than closed for weeks on end. Add a small levy or price increase to cover the hourly rate of a door keeper? Or arrange a walk aisle to the counter to check in?

Your best hope for unlocking is covid everywhere. If covid is everywhere then what's the point of locking down.

It's not that messages are mixed. They're making it up as they go along. I'm sure some of the impromptu answers to live questions are just that. Never been thought of, but give an answer.

I agree wholeheartedly. I thought that there was a rule around Godwins Law or similar for the site? If not I stand corrected but I agree totally with @GV27 in regards to the previous user and their statement.

As others have said the last couple of pages are an unpleasant read, we are better than this.

There's two weird things here: No one is asking about how they get a test in the days between Xmas/NYE if they want to leave Auckland. That's going to be a massive logistical issue and put a huge amount of pressure on testing capacity in a very short period of time.

Secondly, the vaccine passports have already slipped from 'November' to Late November to Mid-December. Do we have any assurances or confidence that they'll actually be ready for Xmas - after mid-December the country basically winds down anyway, so there is no more room left for slippage and the deadline has slipped by a month already.
