In Auckland:

Level 3 Stage 2 for the vaccinated - get an interim letter out automatically to all who are double vaccinated while waiting for the "proper system"

Current Level 3 for the unvaccinated, but make a major push to reach the marginalised

It would never work. Don't trust people in the same city abiding on Level 3 rules.

Wonder if the modelling allows for the fact these people probably aren't following Level 3 rules already. At some point you must run into diminishing returns.

The Government is dithering - where are the vaccine passports (they've had 18 months)?

The French & Italians have a vaccine passport, and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has one too.
Why hasn't MoH just bought one of these ready-made solution off the shelf , done minimal localisation and pushed it out the door a month or six weeks ago?
I suspect they're doing a bespoke "special for NZ" solution.

Yet not having a vaccine passport solution in place is the one major practical thing that stops us going to the traffic light system that relieves the vaccinated from significant restriction.

Aspects of MoH 'Head Office' seem to be as much part of the problem as part of the solution

All three of the products you mentioned rely on either national ID cards or passports. None of them are integrated to the national vaccine database. How do you deploy them in NZ?

Did they ever locate who infected the Tongan case?

Follow up test is due today to rule out a weak/false. But I'm unsure if they have genomic capabilities to find us a solid link to an existing in NZ there.

I get the feeling we might be at the point soon where we have so many cases a day they can't keep up with the additional linking tests of the positives that is required. Might explain the 96 unknowns and rising.

Auckland LOIs have slowed to a crawl. This is one of the things that makes it frustrating when you're trying to be vigilant and make sure you're not exposed or potentially spreading it if you have to travel for work.

E: There is one singular 2pm LOI, and it's a pharmacy in Ngaruawahia. Back to back to back triple digit cases in Auckland but two thirds of bugger all LOIs.

Are we just 'letting it rip' by stealth while we tear down anyone who suggests we accept some degree of spread among people who still choose to be unvaccinated?

That can work if your tally of deaths, crowded hospitals and delayed operations is acceptable. The freedom day in AUS, cant recall NSW or VIC had 2100 record cases on the say they opened up. Imagine that here. Similar population

Case numbers will stay high for a long time as all that is happening is that you are putting infected people in with non infected.

At some point they will have to say outside and other interactions might be better than secret indoor interactions. Humans are social beings and keeping them apart is not going to work in the long run.

Does the fact NSW numbers are dropping even though the restrictions are less mean anything to the people here?

Maori health providers have been asking for access to the vaccination records, so they can do the knocking on doors.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/126703647/john-tamihere-v-ministry-of-health-vaccination-fight-goes-to-high-court

There appears to have been a follow up in court, but I'm not sure of the final outcome.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/morningreport/audio/2018817812/covid-19-vaccination-data-access-heads-to-high-court

Meanwhile the ant-vaxxers are attacking a vaccination clinic of the Pasefika Family Health Group in Panmure.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/454606/vaccination-centre-vandalised-staff-threatened

Following the vaccination clinic vandalism, Auckland councillor Josephine Bartley is now getting on-line abuse and threats from COVID-19 anti-vaxxers
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2021/11/community-rallies-around-auckland-councillor-josephine-bartley-after-abuse-by-covid-19-anti-vaxxers.html

Does anyone seriously think the anti-vaxx protests are about "freedom".

As I said in a subsequent post if you put the "privacy veil" to one side there's nothing stopping them targeting supermarkets and the likes in the areas where the vax rates are low. That would mop up a fair few of those they need to target.

I think it's disgusting/sad the way the MOH have been difficult with handing over information to the Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency. I can't help but think it's a p11sing contest and the MOH are scared of being made to look stupid/incompetent.

The anti vax argument has never been about freedom. Logical argument has never supported their "freedom claim".

1. They've had a LOT of cases, and therefore more immunity

2. Vaccinnes are ahead of ours

3. I assume they use a vaccine card, allowing more seperation from the vaccinated (who are still at risk)

4. How long was lockdown?  Cases?  Deaths?

It's not like for like.

I'm prerttty sure there are a lot of cases not getting tested, becasue they know they'll be forced into isolation and they dont want to.

This could be what's happening in Chch. It's almost certainly happening Waikato all the way north to Northland.

My guess is that it's much more widespread than we think, and most of these cases will be asymptomatic (which you'd expect with a lot of vaccinated people too).

People like these roughs are, frankly, pathetic. Did the police catch them (hopefully)? Threatening someone for being pro-vaxx? Yeah, people like you are really the salt of the earth, eh 😠

Auckland:

80% eligible population jabbed 2x.

Case numbers remain within expectations.

Assessments suggest opening retail won't trigger new infections en masse.

Auckland level 3/step two next week.

90% double jab goal still stays for all three DHBs.
