I don't understand why the vaccine certificates are so hard to implement. You can already log into the web site and see your vaccination details, so surely the 'certificate' is just the same information presented slightly differently?
On the implementation side I assume they are going to setup some sort of QR code on the digital cert that people can display, and given that the Covid Tracer app decisions were weighted heavily towards privacy rather than data sharing (for instance knowing how many people signed in at a location at a particular time is obviously useful information that can never be provided with our current system) I suspect that various hoops are being jumped through to similarly avoid people's personal information being made available to any other member of the public, while still being able to sign in.
And as far as just showing your current app, I know that some of the Aus digital ones change as you move the display to avoid them being a screenshot, as well as display a current clock to avoid it being a video, which I hope we do too, although lack of an accelerometer on some older devices might prevent the first one.

Promising, bear in mind that numbers fluctuate
Will seperate out those in hospital for other care who happen to have Covid, so are not there for Covid, also promising, as hospital numbers are essentially overstated

Indeed. Unlike the non-covid related cases out of the UK that the antivaxers use to say the vaccine is bad. They list the total number of admissions, and list their status. Naturally, people going to hospital when your population is high rate jabbed Makes it look like hundereds per day are in hosptial cause of the jabs when it's totally unrelated.
I was quite disgusted to see some parents here with their kids. If I was one of those kids, I would be both embarrassed and ashamed of having parents like that, especially since they made me hold their stupid, misinformation sign. Who is the silly woman yelling right in the camera towards the end anyway? I bet her family are proud.
I agree with the person on the last page who said these antivaxxers need to actually start getting seriously infected, only maybe then they'll pay attention to the science, not Bob on Facebook with his 15 followers who says vaccinations are bad, simply because he says so.
I saw a fitting cartoon the other day of a couple watching TV, saying something like "it's a good thing Fox News wasn't around in the 50's, otherwise we'd still be fighting polio". Just goes to show how pathetic some of these people are, IMO.

Although I did like the "bold climate action at COP26 "
One encouraging thing is that most times when someone spends time in ICU long term with Covid, you don't get out alive. Our death toll from this outbreak has been very low. Our ICU numbers are dropping without our deathtoll escalating.

Agreed, I had no problem with that part, it was the loudmouth antivaxx protestor that did my head in.

We don't have vaccine certificates ready, despite knowing we would likely use them in the very early part of this year, and the list goes on and on. It's no longer OK for people to be saying 'oh we have never done this before and the situation keeps changing'
People can work off known quantities and a clear plan. At this stage, the plan should be set and minor details should be adjusted according to changing situations.
As recently as August there were comments from senior MPs that we didn't need vaccine certificates, here we are basically waiting around for them.
One of the reasons given by many of the people refusing to be vaccinated and who are protesting is the fact that even in September the PM was still telling us on multiple occasions that she didn't like the idea pf vaccine passports, and that there would be nobody disadvantaged by not being vaccinated. People are angry because they feel she's let them down.
I guess summer holiday and xmas are potentially going to be very difficult.. Can't imagine with testing timeframes and then traffic jams that going on holiday is going to be very enjoyable for anybody who does decide they will try and leave Auckland. Anti-vaxxers say "I don't want a vaccine because it's a way for the government to put the mark of the beast on us/inject tracking devices on us/I don't know what's in it". They don't say "I won't take the vaccine because there's a passport document attached to it".
People were anti-vaxxers before the passport (as you mention, in September). They will just latch at this as another excuse.
You are giving anti-vaxxers too much credit.

Here is another view (taken from someone else and comment in another thread):
And yet, they refuse to have a document that shows you were vaccinated during the worst pandemic in the last decades?
Then they are just idiots.
Also, you say they are refusing the vaccine because they don't want said document? I mean, they rather get sick than get that document and protection?
Again, they are idiots.

I enjoyed hearing Hipkins say that anyone who had paid for a Vaccination exemption certificate/document had been ripped off, as they would not in any way be valid.
