I don't think L2 in the East Waikato and the L3 Step 2 mean stuff all. I had to go to Hamilton on Wednesday for an appointment and the amount of traffic between Hamilton and Morrinsville was amazing and not a Police car to be seen. I wouldn't be surprised in hundreds of cars were breaching the boundary each day.

What do you suggest? The stats from the pressers seem less depressing. If you want to see depressing look at NSW and VIC, roughly similar populations. The issue is you need to balance health vs continual lockdowns. The latter becomes less effective as time goes on

Generally covid deniers don't get vaccinated, so cross that off the list.

I have a mate and work colleague who is as anti vax as there is. He is fully vaccinated "for me"

When you say that it sounds dire. Overseas in highly vaccinated countries, most cases are vaccinated, as vaccinated are MOST of the population

COVID-19 has recently been detected in wastewater samples taken in Napier and Gisborne.

The wastewater sampling was carried out by ESR between 1 and 3 November, with results returned this afternoon. They could be due to recently recovered cases returning to the region from MIQ who are shedding the virus, transient visitors to the region, or could signal undetected cases in the community.

There are no MIQ facilities, or known COVID-19 cases self-isolating, in Napier or Gisborne. As standard procedure, ESR will carry out further samples in coming days with results expected early next week.

Yes. Have listened to him a lot over the last year and he makes a lot of sense.
Experts have said that people crossing the Auckland border should be vaccinated yet the government still aren't requiring this. Yet it will be a requirement at Christmas. It is like closing the barn door after the horse has already bolted. No wonder cases are popping up in other parts of NZ. Looks like the south island may have successfully eliminated it.

I see experts that say open up now and others that say no way, so hard to know. What I do know is there is no easy fix. Open up and get blasted. Dont open up and get blasted. Depends who is health biased and who is business biased, then you have the AKLders doing it hard who are rightly biased. Whatever scenario occurs it will add cases, and it will thereby fail, and there is the next days news.

Well, as I said, there are many experts from one extreme to the other, all qualified. All make sense, but they are at extremes

We need to get real. Do you want a health response, or a business response or a freedom response? You can't have it all. Its a case of the least worse response, but daily readings here tell me its easy, just do this or that. If the 90% and open ip scenario occurs, we are all equal. Mount Eden or Tuatapere (deep SI) are all equal. Or do we want to lock out case areas? Im not suggesting any scenario, but what I will suggest is that's its not easy. Which of the 3 options will you opt for?
