SJB:

Only the Auckland public.

It's been like 85 days, no other part of NZ has been locked down for this long, and this is on top of a previous regional lockdown and the national ones last year.

I agree, they have no need for this information and should be told as much. It's really not much different to a person holding a professional registration like an electrician or even someone like a paramedic coming on site. No one askes to see their qualification/registration details. You trust that the company they work for has ensured the staff they send are appropriately qualified.

Except that the EWRB encourages customers to check that electricians on site are licenced. If they don't show their card you can search the public register of electrical workers. What's the saying "Trust but verify".

As with most 'evolving' things.

It's only suggested. But use of it to be backed up.. eventually.

Pretty surprising to hear Hipkins say tonight that *anybody* who wants the AZ vaccine can get it after consultation with those giving the vaccination. This was a pretty significant change from Bloomfield at 1pm who made it very clear there was very strict criteria over who would be eligible.

There is so much confusion occurring at present with poor communication and decision making.

I don't get why they would restrict it to a few select people. If someone flatly refused the Pfizer one but said they will get the Astrazeneca then give it to them. Wouldn't it be better to have them vaccinated than unvaccinated?

I don't know the answer. Imo there are several reasons. Leaving out the logistics... Pfizer messenger vax technically has a better safety and efficacy record. On an ethical basis doctors are generally not keen to prescribe something with significantly lower stats unless there is a good reason.

I could make up a hypothetical example involving ivermectin but that would just confuse things. Short answer.. medical ethics imo.

This quote totally made my day today;

Stuff: conspiracy theories seen at the protest – like the Qanon followers who told Stuff they believed Ardern had been arrested two years ago by then United States President Donald Trump and wore an ankle bracelet.

I had a smile on my face for the rest of the day. It's insane.

It feels me with a sense of hope. I had been a bit disappointed by New Zealand being underrepresented in the /HCA subreddit. This crowd however - we're talking about hundreds of candidates ready to volunteer for a nomination. Represent!

Actually places do check that stuff, if its an active construction site then there are massive checks about peoples qualifications before being allowed on site.

As i still use cards for all sorts of things would it be just fine to use the printed version of the vaccination certificate?

A point to ponder, as so many to the north cheer at their so called freedom a large number of folks in Aotearoa are now destined to lock down possibly for several years or face a horrible death. This could have easily been avoided if the government had the guts to stay on course and selfish dicks just followed the rules. From one of those facing this I hope the selfish dicks can live with the death toll but I suspect they will not care.

If it could be avoided so easily why hasn't it been anywhere in the world?

The same lobbying and selfish attitudes are not isolated to Aotearoa

Well there is Taiwan, but necessity....

For reasons to do with their 'loveable' neighbor,
they knew they would have trouble sourcing vaccines.
Still accepting donations and near expiry date to make up numbers.
For us but for a Taxi trip in Australia, maybe, maybe not.

I hadn't noticed this until it was mentioned in the Discovery announcement today
