DS248:

NSW deadliest day - 36 COVID-19 fatalities. Population adjusted, equivalent to 22/day in NZ and closing in on recent UK peaks (equivalent to 300 in UK)

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-18/nsw-records-36-covid-19-deaths/100761884

According to an ex-colleague of mine in Australia, who has "done the research" and read many "peer reviewed" studies that have been buried by big pharma, these will all be deaths by other causes wrongly attributed to COVID.

He's a knowledgeable chap, and among other things claims to be able to predict the outcome of horse races using horoscopes.  His partner is a clairvoyant, so if anyone would know I'm sure she would.

It's hard to argue in the face of such irrefutable proof from those obviously more wise and educated than the rest of us.  Such is his seemingly infinite ability to ignore reality he recently got into an online argument with a friend of another ex-colleague of mine, where the fact that the guy trying to help him understand is literally a professor of molecular biology had no weight at all in the argument.  No amount of Ivermectin can cure that level of stupid.

We live in worrying times.  I worry more about some of the people than the virus :-(

Most were double jabbed as well but elderly.

Further information from the NSW CHO

NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant says 63 of the 209 people in the ICU across NSW are ventilated.

The 29,830 positive tests recorded in the state today came from 16,067 PCR tests and 13,763 RATs. There were a total of 67,549 PCR tests conducted in the 24 hours to 8:00pm last night.

NSW is reporting the deaths of 36 people. Of those:

  • 22 were men and 14 were women
  • One person was aged in their 40s, two were aged in their 50s, one was in their 60s, 11 people aged in 70s, 12 people were in the 80s, nine people were in the 90s
  • 33 were double vaccinated against COVID, three people were not vaccinated.
  • Of the three people who died under 65, one was vaccinated against COVID and had two doses, and two people were not vaccinated. All three of those under 65 had underlying serious health conditions

Dr Chant issued a warning that people needed to seek their booster vaccination more urgently.

There were more than 70,000 vaccine bookings available at clinics across the state that were not taken up last week.

Here's a detailed account of someone who got sick with Covid including all the contact tracing calls, health calls, surveys, daily check ins etc. It's quite a good read as they were on holiday out of state so had quite a number of challenges. It's a good reminder to people who only look at the number in hospital & ignore that you can still be pretty sick at home.

Thanks to being able to observe omicron in Australia we are getting a much clearer picture.

It is not a milder pandemic wave, it is the worst.

There are certain groups in society who have a milder experience of it, they tend to be younger, and females do better, and obviously the vaccine wall makes this variant seem milder.

It is only milder on individuals who have strong protective factors from a epidemiological pov. And a critical missing element for the NZ population, is a lack of prior exposure.

We knew this early on, a bunch of us here kept warning that the intel out of South Africa and the UK does not correlate to our systems.

What we needed to know is: what happens in a vaccinated system, that has sheltered the vulnerable, when omicron hits that group.

Well now we have this answered, it is worse than Delta, because with Delta, that group had vaccine protection.

These are the issues NZ faces, a much higher death toll than we are accustomed too, this will not look from a pandemic overview like the mildest phase of our two years of Covid.

Completely the opposite is true. This will be for us the worst of times.

To the contrary, a big enough dose of Ivermectin would undoubtedly and permanently cure the problem

And he miraculously found them on the internet dominated by monster global tech companies, or passed around on Facebook which is a truly virtuous institution fighting for the freedom of everyone! :)

OK so we have our first Omicron community infection - granted they were isolating, but The next question will be are there others,

"One symptomatic household contact of the MIQ Omicron case has today tested positive for COVID-19. The case was already isolating. They will be formally included in tomorrow’s case numbers. Further case interviews are currently underway but, at this stage, there are no exposure events associated with this case. All other household members have returned negative tests to date."

Also

Border cases are about to overtake active community cases ... With cases peaking in many departure countries we might see a fall in positive border arrivals in the next couple of weeks, but its gonna be squeaky bum time until we get there...

I see former Kiwis Captain Frank Pritchard is as home now after three weeks in hospital.

His family posted photos of him in his wheel chair. From those images I could see he had a tracheostomy tube. Ideally someone like him would have been at an intensive rehab facility to help him regain speech, walking, and to try to wean him off the machine.

Hopefully there is a public health nurse spare to come and help him and his supports with rehab in home. During the peak of the pandemic, this is unlikely.

The overarching theme of omicron, is for all of us to make plans, and to prepare to look after ourselves and our loved ones in the storm of swamped healthcare.

The critical missing intel from the MIQ secondary attack event (the rate which disease spreads from an index case to another householder) is the context of where and when this occurred.

Unfortunately the article does not explicitly state whether the family were placed in managed isolation, and therefore separated immediately after the first case was identified.

This is really annoying.

It could well be, that since this worker has been a highly trusted source, and is from within the Covid management family, that they were given the option to stay together in home.

If they were/are still self isolating together, then it is inevitable that there would be on spread....which in of itself...may tell us absolutely nothing about the other contacts in terms of the incubation of the virus in the Index case which could have given us a window of infectivity.

It may still be true then, that like the DJ....this person just was not infectious at all while positive and around the other contacts.

Well, I feel that Jetstar are about to become Karen's choice...

The big question is will the 93% of the vaccinated population be prepared to "spin the wheel" to see if they sit next to her .... pretty big business decision by Jstar...

Pretty clear that some of her claims are delusional. Which is a tragedy. There is an obvious mental health situation going on with her.
