I assume that's rhetorical?

Sadly, I think you're right. While I find ridiculous is the majority of the population is vaccinated (nearly 95%, isn't it?), and these people are very obviously in the minority, but they won't change anything doing this, nor will they win over anyone from the other side.
If the mandates get dropped (and I imagine once enough people are vaccinated they will eventually) then what would they do?
At my gym there are plenty more who are anti mandate but are fully vaccinated, boosted and comply with all the rules, and do the right thing. But patience with the domestic restrictions can only last so long before people will continue to comply and be "quiet". It is just right now they do not want to be associated with those anti vaxers, loons if they did protest.
If mandated domestic vaccine passes ,masks around xmas 2022 is still a thing? I would be grumpy.

The latter.
A couple of years ago I was having problems with anti-social behaviour from a group of neighbours. One day they and their mates went into the Wellington CBD and blocked off streets, glued themselves to buildings and invaded an ANZ bank branch to terrorise the staff. The police arrested them but eventually let them go without charging them.
Angry and disillusioned people will always find creative ways to let off steam. The best solution is to stop them from getting angry and disillusioned in the first place.
Oh heck...

Oh its old news and been happening for a while if kids wanted some days off school in UK 7 months ago.
So supervised tests preferred.
I'm boosted! I was starting to get a little worried at being the only one in my family eligible but not triple jabbed. Interestingly the system hadn't been rolled over to the three month window and they had to manually override to add to my record, even though the BookMyVaccine website let me book.

I believe AKL and CHC are 99% partly vaccinated, i.e. have had at least one dose, but the antivaxxers, including my mate can't grasp that if 99% of people get vaccinated, then the 1% are wrong, but still distribute fake news. Its not an anti Covid issue, its a conspiracy/governemnts are bad/i want my freedom/Pfizer money grab stance. In short oppositional of everything for the sake of it
ok will the experts who said cases would rapidly climb in the following days feel slightly letdown that cases dropped by 40
Common sense is not as common as you think.

I read somewhere most of those that ended up in ICU (at least in on AU hospital) who were not vaccinated regretted not getting vaccinated. I suspect the same could occur with the majority of anti vaxxers

No, I'm sure their quite happy that the numbers are currently down. I can't believe any expert with a bit of humanity would actually want the covid numbers to increase just to prove them right.
Supermarkets are wanting the government to do something about the people who are going into the supermarket unmasked, as it is currently unmanageable. I have noticed there are a lot of unmasked people in my supermarkets, and as cases grow, I can see superma4kts being a place with high viral loads, as there will be more an more people visiting them who have covid. Apparently according to the stuff article, the majority don't have any exemption, they are making a political point ad difficult to deal with. I wouldn't be surprised if many were also antivaxxers. It also affects those with a valid exemption, as they get tarred with the same brush . A few have lanyard, but you don't know if they are legit, or just printed off facebook. IMO the government need to do something about this to protect everyone. No point in having a law if isn't fit for purpose or even enforced.

I know two antivaxxers personally. Just like all online AVers I've seen, very arrogant and devoid of humility. Their anti-ism ideologies are at the surface for sure but the root cause IMO is they are just not smart people. They make dumb decisions & are easily duped.
I've seen a seemingly intelligent IT professional still look like a complete idiot getting duped by the percentage principal. i.e. In a group of people 100 are vaxxed and 10 aren't, 5 of the unvaxxed are in hospital, 6 of the vaxxed are. In their little dumb-dumb head more vaxxed people are in hospital therefore vaccines don't work. Tell them that 50 is a bigger percentage than 6 and you get one of two reactions: their face implodes in confusion, or they realize you know they made up a bunch of garbage to cover their own fears, so they'll change the subject to the 'danger' of vaccines.
Then its time for the lightning bolt principal lol. Freedoms? Why would they ever want to go outside, aren't they terrified of getting hit by lightning which is a more likely danger? "Well that's silly & you're a terrible person for joking about experimental poisons, my fears are perfectly logical - do your own research". ๐

Regrettably, you are wrong about this. I have a close friend who blows your stereotypes out of the water. He is intelligent, compassionate, kind and generous, but he absolutely believes vaccination should be a matter of choice and he is strongly against it for himself, though he has no problem with others getting it.
