And for what it is worth, the comparable plot for NSW.

As shown, in NSW for all age groups below 80, the number admitted to an ICU unit during their Covid illness considerably exceeded the number who died.

The striking difference between there and here is the numbers treated in ICU ... and that their numbers of deaths (per capita, per case, or per hospitalised case) are significantly lower than the corresponding NZ death rates.

Radio NZ -  Covid 19: Fourth vaccine dose announced for vulnerable groups

breaking

A second booster dose will be made available to at-risk people with legislation adopted next month, the government has announced.

He said this fourth dose would cover several hundred thousand people in vulnerable groups, including elderly, aged care residents, and those in disability care facilities. ...

Hipkins said the legislation enabling all this was expected to be passed and take effect in mid-June ...

However, with the six-month gap, most would become eligible from July. ...

Keep in mind that we have some dedicated covid wards around. Just because a person isn't in an official ICU doesn't mean they aren't getting the care they require.
In ICU you would be restricted to only using negative pressure rooms for covid, & it would still create a dangerous risk to other very ill patients.

A dedicated ward means you can use the entire space & you can modify the HVAC to exhaust the air for the entire ward safely outside.

Are they reporting deaths the same as we are, i.e. deaths WITH Covid as opposed to death FROM Covid?
