Just got an advertising email from a Chinese online retailer, for 'Epidemic Prevention Products'. It wasn't spam because I have purchased from them once before for an iphone consumable. They had all sorts of masks, hand sanitiser, infrared thermometer, gloves, overall protective clothing, goggles, and lets not forget toilet paper. Will take between 6 days to a month to get here. Not sure how I feel about them sending that sort of email. Also just got an email from Aliexpress showing masks was their top seller.
I had a courier guy turn up today.
Delivering a signature required parcel.
I was ready and had latex gloves on and a pen to sign his phone thingy.
However, he showed me his phone and my signature was already there, from being saved from previous deliveries.
New coronavirus protocols apparently.

Countdown online shopping leaves them at the door then texts that they are there.

I hope we are not going to get into the situation of people stealing peoples orders off their door steps, if most people are going to be at home.

Did Bill Gates predict Covid-19 in 2015?
It had been predicted long before Gates.
Not trying to diminish what he does, but it's been long known that pandemic of a novel zoonotic infectious disease was a serious threat, they've happened regularly throughout history, global travel makes global pandemic inevitable given the "right" disease, and there's no "cure" for viral diseases - only treatments (or vaccines - which take a long time to develop).
But it's not as exciting as the idea that an asteroid will hit. They do - about once every 50 or 100 million years maybe - plagues are probably about a million times more likely to kill you.
Then this (Covid-19) happens - it's by far not a worst-case scenario - and so far it looks like we failed.
We as a species are hopeless at looking after and caring for our fellow humans. Millions die from malaria, TB etc - but so long as it's not ravaging the privileged, nothing much happens - the fact that Gates needs to step in isn't an example of the great success of the capitalist system we have, it's a desperate example of someone trying to help - because of its failure.

KFC/Pizza Hut will leave at the door, call you, wait until you open the door, staying 3m away, or wait in car until you arrive. Well Done

As long as they are still there watching it, then that should work. But if they just leave it by the front door, and leave like they do with things like food boxes, then it could be a problem for some people. I guess though people are now more likely to be at home. That does remind me, one of the panic buying things that Americans have been buying are guns with queues out the door. .

Has anyone ordered frozen vegetables through Countdown online shopping, I guess the delivery people must have ways of ensuring the goods remain frozen during transit? It would pay to pick up your shopping promptly if it includes frozen goods!

No doubt this website has been referred to here before. I find it's very good to help keep things in perspective as to how NZ compares with other countries.
The above page shows, for example, that new cases of COVID-19 are a huge 577 for the USA, followed by 98 for Australia, 87 for South Korea, 50 for Thailand, 46 for Mexico and 11 for NZ.
The page also shows total deaths, new deaths, active cases, total recovered, and serious critical cases.
I'm not sure how complete or reliable this site is, but I guess it's only one of many that attempt to provide these statistics?

New Zealand has now 39 cases.

"Argentina, home to 45 million people, is the latest country to enact measures ordering people to stay in their homes with limited exceptions. People are allowed to leave for basic needs like grocery shopping or doctor's appointments but police will be patrolling the streets and those without a valid reason to be outside will be penalized."
