neb: It appears hairdressers are now essential services, if this ad is anything to go by. We need some very obvious, widely-publicised smackdowns to make sure people get the message...

To give the benefit of the doubt it did say the Adv was a day old so it may not actually apply to today.

gchiu: Worst scenario, we lose our senior politicians!

In the US' case, would losing their senile politicians be a bad thing?

COVID-19 - current cases

Interesting details there. People affected in their teens and 20s. Their symptoms may not be as serious as the elderly but I think it still demonstrates to the overconfident youth that they are nonetheless susceptible.

As at ~3:40 pm, that link no longer has details of individual cases (age, gender, source of infection).  Did yesterday (even though somewhat incomplete . Quite a few "Details to come").

Is there an alternative web page with the individual case info?

Australian hair dressers are pleading the govt to reclassify them as non essential. Let the hair grow! Will Scott Morrison listen? Certainly a cause for confusion if you don't know which country you're living in.

Those asking about hospitals, and deaths, read this

NZ overwhelmed just with 40,000 cases.

Paradoxically POTUS's rating of his handling of the covid-19 pandemic has increased to 55%. It is thought that he could have only gone up as it could not go lower.

Just went outside and did a garden walk round, pulled a few weeds & picked some Pinot Noir bunches and it is so eerily quiet. It even seems like the birds are in lock down. It is as quite as the middle of the night to early morning. Normally at this time of day there is always the suburbia back ground hum but no. Not even DIY'ers or kids playing in back yards. Sort of like one of those Hollywood movies - "I Am Legend (2007)"

Half the international arrivals have no self isolation plan. Thanks for the CT's that you have been creating  /smh

I couldn't believe it when I heard that. I think we need them all quarantining in an approved location suitable for it, to be safe, due to the high risk many will be bring it in.

apparently China has stopped testing for Covid.

time will tell the truth.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/23/life-after-lockdown-has-china-really-beaten-coronavirus

Sure will

"According to a report on Monday by RTHK, Hong Kong’s public broadcaster, residents said hospitals in Wuhan had refused to test patients who showed symptoms. Kyodo News in Japan reported at the weekend that a local doctor said the number of cases had been manipulated before President Xi Jinping’s visit earlier this month, prompting the beginning of “a mass release of infected patients”.

I couldn't believe it when I heard that. I think we need them all quarantining to be safe, due to the high risk many will be bring it in. Self isolation of incoming people to the country has not worked, because you only need a few not doing it properly and it will spread. We can't trust everyone will do the right things, as history has shown some haven't.

Also this article is a concern https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/covid-19/412664/coronavirus-modelling-shows-nz-s-lockdown-could-buy-time-for-a-vaccine

I think we have to stamp it out totally, not just flatten the curve.

if the govt don't sort out the quarantine we'll never get out of lockdown

Is that everyone though?  From what I heard from the meeting today, if people have plans and a place to go to self isolate, and aren't showing symptoms , then they will go into self isolation within a bubble of the person who picks them up from the airport.

There is a lot of confusion going on. It's not an avian flu. They can come out now!
