Spare a thought for the many van-packers who are spending the next 4 weeks in a vehicle never designed for camping in.
I guess those that have the self-contained sticker, but aren't really self-contained, will soon be regretting it!

Geektastic:
There is a NZ product called ZOONO that is very good. It forms a barrier on the skin that lasts all day (allegedly). It's expensive but my wife was able to order it a few days ago.
@Geektastic Did you receive this product? We ordered some on March 07, but still hasn't been shipped/delivered. Get autoresponse when sending them an email, stating they extremely busy and they still catching up on orders.
They finally shut down their webshop last week, and put up a message saying they still catching up on orders and everybody should have orders within 2 weeks. I'm taking that with a grain of salt at the moment as they haven't been able to dispatch product ordered more than 3 weeks ago, so can only imagine the volume of orders they've received since then. Oh and they did charge my credit card on the same day as my order was placed.
I also noticed this article last week about them striking a $20m distribution deal with the Middle East and North Africa. https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/120571748/zoono-sanitiser-strikes-multimilliondollar-deal
Realise that this deal has probably been worked on for months, but still doesn't look good when you have a backlog of customers waiting for their orders.
My rant over.
If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

Yes, we did. A few days prior to the lockdown.
Day 5 of the lockdown. Is there anyone like me who is a bit optimistic about the lack of increases in daily cases. Another 10 days to hopefully washout pre-lockdown contact but the I must admit to being surprised we haven't escalated away.

You have to remember that todays numbers are 1-2 weeks old, in terms of how many people are actually infacted with the virus. So they don't give a full impression of how many people have actually been infected as of today. The current numbers are only for those people now showing symptoms, or have been tested, so don't include all the people infected, because of the long incubation period. Most of these are also still travelers into NZ, and only about 10 CT cases so far, and the number of people coming into NZ I understand has dropped significantly over the last week
They were saying to expect the numbers to go into the thousands, which should largely be the numbers infected prior to going into lockdown, if everyone is actually physically isolating properly. IMO as I mentioned previously, I do wonder if showing the modeling per day of how many people they think could be infected, wouldn't be a bad idea. I do understand they are expected to release more details on the modeling in the coming days.

We have only done 12,000 tests. The lack of testing in NZ is a big area of concern for me.
@Geektastic Glad to hear you did get your Zoono order.
Looks like I may need to request a chargeback from my credit card company.

kingdragonfly: Let me summarize the Trump administration/right-wing media view on the coronavirus: It’s a hoax, or anyway no big deal. Besides, trying to do anything about it would destroy the economy. And it’s China’s fault, which is why we should call it the “Chinese virus.”
Oh, and epidemiologists who have been modeling the virus’s future spread have come under sustained attack, accused of being part of a “deep state” plot against Donald Trump, or maybe free markets.
It's a specific instance of the conman's playbook, they have to get you to accept their reality, if you don't they ignore you and look for easier prey, and if they can't ignore you they pronounce it a conspiracy, politically motivated, someone else's fault, whatever. Most of the time they're not forced to face hard reality and so only need to apply steps 1 and 2. There's a really good book on this, written long before Trump gained any prominence, I'd dig up the reference but all the libraries are closed anyway...

Police have received >4,000 reports of rule-breakers and only arrested 3, and let 2 go without charge (other one had a pre-existing warrant). So effectively in NZ there's no downside to flouting the rules (if you're selfish and don't care about the disease itself). This is very disappointing - we are all aware that there are many instances of rule-breaking, and this will only continue if violators aren't made an example of.
You make the assumption that the activity being reporting is actually illegal currently, and not just the belief of the person reporting it
eracode:Australia is a good example of how to cock up a lockdown response to the crisis - not helped by their very inefficient federal/state government setup.
From a friend in the US:
The XXX Chamber of Commerce has openly declared that local shops should remain open so that don't lose the 'tourist business'
It's like they want people to tie.

Its been clearly said they will go with advice and educating people. You can be sure if no change, they will hit hard.

Also ignored is the statement that over 1000 reports related to businesses being opening (these aren't necessarily 1000+ individual businesses) and that a significant portion of the other reports were somewhat vague and therefore couldn't be acted on, i.e. "Joe Bloggs is at the beach".
