cshwone:

Interesting to note that of the 164 currently active cases, 122 are related to the 16 clusters.

Yep, if we had less clusters we would look amazing. What concerns me more is how much contact in the outside works have the 122 had?

neb: Well at least some good news: Covid19 may mean the end of battery farming office workers.

Ha, yes !

Though my sisters team was gleefully told , now you are working from home we expect 20% more from you.

This is a large organisation with well paid and trained managers.
Though you wonder what they teach on the short courses they dash off to if this is considered to be motivating the team.

Hey ho, human factors ,

If physical distancing ends at this point - an Aussie take on it.

Just following on from my post from last night about a NZ - OZ bubble,  I see there is an article today on this exact point, where both NZ need to have the same goal before opening the border. Otherwise IMO, as NZers we have sacrificed more to go harder and eliminate it, than Oz have sacrificed. Where elimination wasn't Oz's objective going into lockdown, and they planned to be in lockdowns for 6 months to hibernate their economy and 'suppress' the virus. The posters link above also reinforces this.  It isn't helped when NZ politicians pushing for this NZ -OZ bubble, say that we can't eliminate it in NZ.

NZ, Aus need same goal before joining bubbles - epidemiologist

That article is more than a month old, so not at all relevant to the current situation.

Does anyone know any more about this? Seems pretty suspect to me.

In Putin's Russia? Nothing to see here, surely.

Wait a week or so for the facts to come out. Could be anything.

Russian Covid specialists must be awfully clumsy to keep falling out of windows like that!

Did you miss the "/s" (sarcasm) tag?

Facts are Putin was bare-chested standing below waiting to catch the falling doctors, but they jumped out the wrong windows.  The hospital administrator responsible confirmed this in a signed note before disappearing.

A supposed factual story is that at least one of the doctors had been agitating about lack of PPE for hospital staff.  I could understand how someone in that position might reach a limit - with tragic consequences.  It's Russia - where bad stories end with "... and then it got worse".

I’m also sure that as North Korea haven’t had a single case, they’ve been going through ammunition faster than usual.

Even under normal conditions suicides of doctors and medical students are a thing.

https://www.mja.com.au/journal/2018/reducing-risk-suicide-medical-profession

Emergency room, and ICU conditions can be very extreme , as is the learning environment where only top % make it.
Under CV19 hot zones its probably a grind and sense of danger you see on a battlefield I guess.
The extra worry you and your family could be next because your government does not care for you.
Hopelessness.

Years ago, I knew of at least one nurse who took a step down to very ordinary office work, for their own sake.
Sometimes these workers can be very hard on each other, due to stress.

Long hours and shift work have been shown to not be healthy even in industrial setting.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jun/18/foxconn-life-death-forbidden-city-longhua-suicide-apple-iphone-brian-merchant-one-device-extract

Its been reported in USA , and I suppose other places.
I expect in Russia there is not much support for anyone showing weakness.

It is a thing that makes me wonder when we talk about lightning quick opening , its easier for us than for those in healthcare service that face the consequences directly.

Edit for missing industrial link.

I did not think it was even remotely possible for NZ and Aus to achieve what they/we seem to have been able to do.
I can't see much point debating differences in how we got to the point we're at - the outbreaks were somewhat different in both countries.  It's the situation now that matters.  Fingers crossed we'll only see a few sporadic but traceable cases.  Aus has been ticking up slightly - mainly due to one new cluster in Victoria centred on a meat processing works, 17 new cases.  I assume that will probably go up with contact tracing of the worker's home contacts etc.  Similar could easily happen here too as we move from L3 down.

Thus my comment about waiting for more details to appear. The same thing has already happened in the US, but no-one's said "well this is normal in Trump's America", because it wasn't Russia.

it's all reported all over russian interwebs: pretty much no existence of PPE. One head of Hospital shouted at the stuff during online briefing that they must buy their own PPE or make it or go work without if they wish to. There're strikes at smaller medical stations and emergency departments.

State government told region governments to sort everything themselves. within first week number of head of region government resigned on the spot.

it's hell of mess over there. no or limited testing outside of major centers (read Moscow and it's region). but country is in lockdown until 11th May since the end of March.

There're passes to go out (work/supermartet/hospital/etc) but seems fails, wearing masks is about to be mandatory, or already is, but there's no where to buy :) no mask - can't go out.

So yeah, could be anything :(

However, seconds 0 day for NZ. Happy.
